  Rakkhun Thai Restaurant in Da Lat is a hidden gem that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment you walk in, there’s a warmth and authenticity that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. What truly makes this place special is its incredible owner and chef, Mimi. Her story adds so much depth to the food she creates—having lived in Thailand, she mastered the art of Thai cuisine at its roots. I had a phenomenal Pad Thai, one of the best I’ve ever had. You can tell it’s made with care, precision, and a deep understanding of traditional Thai flavors. If you’re in Da Lat and looking for something truly special, Rakkhun is a must-visit. Between the welcoming atmosphere, Mimi’s talent, and the unforgettable food, this place deserves every bit of praise. Highly, highly recommended!

  We ordered 3 dishes for the 2 of us and could barely finish them. 1. Papaya Salad - i really love this dish! They really generous in terms of the portion. It is perfectly seasoned (esp if u like spicy food) and refreshing for an appetiser. 2. Pad Thai Beef - noodles though a bit dry and beef a bit tough, the taste in general was yummy! 3. Tom yum Seafood Soup (spicy level 2) - the seafood soup was packed with mountains of vegetables and 2 prawns. The flavour was good, spicy level 2 was acceptable. The papaya salad was more spicy than the soup.

  This has got to be one of the best “hole in the wall restaurants” I have been in Vietnam. Situated in a quiet side street in Da Lat, this unassuming little Thai restaurant was recommended to us by a local which is usually a safe bet. Anyway, I must say the food was very tasty and the portions huge. Honestly we had trouble finishing the food. The poor owner was worried we didn’t enjoy the food because we had a lot of left overs but this shows she obviously takes pride in her food and service. And even more amazing was that the total bill for 10 adults including drinks only came to $88 AUD! We gave them a well deserved tip. Well worth a visit if you’re anywhere near here.

  Wow, what an amazing place! The guys who own this beautiful and well run Thai restaurant should be incredibly proud. Food is delicious and the restaurant is a perfect place to sit and enjoy Asia and its food at its finest. Best food in Da Lat

  On our final night in Dalat, we decided to try something else other than Vietnamese cuisine. Then we chanced upon Rakkhun, a small little Thai Restaurant near downtown Dalat. When we arrived , we know we are into something good, because it looks like a owner run restaurant that the locals visits. Immediately, we were greeted by a smiley young lady who promptly brought us to the upper floor of the restaurant. Even though she speaks little English, we managed to communicate. The menu were in English! We ordered a Tom Yum Seafood soup level 3 spiciness ( they allow you to choose how spicy you want certain dishes), a papaya salad with cooked prawn and a beef Phaythai. All the dishes were very tasty, Thai food with a Vietnamese twist. There are more vegetables in the Tom Yum, the prawns were extremely fresh, even though Dalat is not near the sea. There's even half a (Onsen like) cooked egg in the soup, very tasty. If you can handle spicy food, level 3 is not spicy at all. However, for the papaya salad, you can't choose how spicy you want it to be. And boy oh boy, it was spicy, but very delicious and fresh! Overall, this place is a hidden Jem in Dalat if you are looking for Vietnamese styled Thai food. Highly recommended. We were greeted by the chef and the owner near the end of our dinner. He was very friendly, told us his story on how he started the restaurant and also introduced us to a coffee place called Jera Coffee and a chocolatier called Ban Chocolate around the vicinity. Check them out if you are there, you won't regret it. We had one of the best meal in Dalat that evening. Will definitely visit again on my next trip.

  Arriving at this Thai restaurant on a rainy evening, I was greeted by a modest ambiance reminiscent of an old wooden house in rural areas. Opting for balcony seating, I appreciated the simple charm of the setting. As for the food, it was decent. The hotpot contained an abundance of veggies, perhaps more than necessary, but it didn't detract too much from the overall experience. While it wasn't anything extraordinary (all 4/5 imo), it met my expectations for a casual dining spot like this, hence the overall 5/5 rating.
