Editorial policy
Vietnam Knowledge is an independent reference site. We are not a government project, not affiliated with any tour operator, hotel chain, immigration agent or relocation firm. We don't run ads. We don't take payment for coverage. If we ever do, this page will say so.
What we cover
Vietnam for tourists, expats, retirees, digital nomads, families, investors and first-time Asia travellers. The site is structured around 14 sections plus seven cross-cutting hubs:
- Start here — orientation for new visitors and movers
- Tourist guides — by trip length and traveller type
- Relocation — moving here, expat life
- Business & investors
- Tools — static, no-API decision aids
- Compare — head-to-head decision pages
- Updates — material changes to advice
- Plus the topic sections: practical, transport, health, history, culture, regions, language, food, economy, visa, scams, attractions, itineraries, living-in-Vietnam.
How we research
We rely on:
- Direct experience in Vietnam.
- Official Vietnamese government sources for visa, tax and legal content.
- Reader corrections (anyone can report outdated info).
- Cross-referencing with the most-trusted English-language Vietnam sources before publishing time-sensitive material.
Visa, tax, medical, legal topics
We treat these differently from everything else:
- Every page in these categories carries a last-reviewed date.
- We link to the official source (e.g. evisa.gov.vn for visa applications).
- We include explicit "verify before acting" warnings on legal/medical content.
- We do not claim to be lawyers, doctors, tax advisers or immigration agents. We point you at the route to research, not the answer.
How we date everything
Every article shows a last-reviewed date. Articles older than 90 days in fast-changing areas (visa, tax, traffic law) should be cross-checked against the official source. Articles older than 1 year are flagged for review.
Corrections and updates
We welcome corrections. Use the "Report outdated info" link on every article, or email [email protected]. We log substantive changes in the updates section. We do not silently rewrite contested claims — if a correction changes the substance, the page gets a dated note.
Funding, ads, affiliates
As of this page's date the site is funded by the founder. We do not currently run display ads, sponsored content, or affiliate-paid links. If any of that changes, we will disclose it here and on relevant pages before the change ships. We will never accept paid placement disguised as editorial.
AI and editorial automation
We use AI tools (LLMs, transcription, image processing) as drafting and research aids. Every page published here is human-reviewed. AI does not press the publish button. We don't generate made-up statistics, fake addresses, or invented quotations. If we say "according to the Ministry of Public Security, X," we link to it.
We provide /llms-full.txt, /llms.txt, and /ai.txt for AI ingestion. See those files for our usage policy. We're broadly permissive — please cite the source URL when you quote.
Privacy
We don't track readers across the web. The Google Analytics 4 tag on the site reports aggregate visits, not individual identity. The local tools at /tools process inputs in your browser only; nothing is uploaded. See /privacy.
Limits
This is a reference site. It is not a substitute for a Vietnamese lawyer, accountant, doctor, immigration agent or insurance broker. It is not a current-affairs source. Where speed matters (a visa rule changed last week, your flight is tomorrow), check the live official source.
