  Dear Elaine Cheung who left a negative feedback below! (And to all people who is reading this, we would like to communicate that her description is not correct and not according to what happened in House Backpackers.) Normally, we have to hold all guest's passports until their departure date for the temporary residence declaration and registration. Because we not only make the copy of passports, but also must to do the procedures according to our city policies. When you checked in, we explained to you this situation as other guests, but you still wanted to have the passports back. Then we tried our best to return your passports on your arrival date, and did the process with the copy instead of the original one that was not easy at all. After all, how rude were we? And I think we did not have time to flirt with somebody which totally could not happen at Reception Desk (this mention is funniest piece of your feedback). By the way, according to your reservation you booked the double room for 2 nights at our hostel, then on your expected depature date you asked us for the extension of your accommodation. Because we were fully - booked, so we could not grant your request and felt terribly sorry for that inconvenience. When we were very pleased to recommend you other hostels around, you absolutely refused our help. As your feedback on another website, you said that you moved from our hostel to somewhere else because our hostel was not nice at all. Is that the truth, Elaine? Furthermore, when you checked out, you tried to pay less for pick - up service at the aiport, and we could not offer you the cheaper price. Even you previously agreed the price in email. We absolutely do not want to have an argument with our guests. But even you are our guests, we still speak out our mind and the truths.   Cheap but you get what you pay for. Rude receptionist who is too busy flirting with the single guy travelers that she can't do her job like make copies of passports. The room is sterile and worn. The door to the room has a blurred glass to it letting the very strong light from the hallway in the room. Definitely better places elsewhere.

  Hostel pricing seems to be a bit higher in Hoi An so coming from other places in Vietnam this place is a bit below-average f for the cost. The staff are nice, location is good and my dorm room had a great outdoor deck. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bunks were really crammed together as a result of the building size. No breakfast included but it's not hard to find great cheap food in the surrounding area.

  Stayed in this hostel after an amazing day on a bike tour, still buzzing. Checked in and put a damper on our trip as immediately met with a grunting receptionist and poor service. Admittedly, the other receptionist on the evening shift was friendlier. Our room was top floor which is not an issue but the room had a washer and dryer (by the sounds of it) on the other side of the wall/roof that ran 24/7. No sleep what so ever. Our door wouldnt close properly so didnt feel all that comfortable leaving any thing even slightly valuable. Our aircon also did not work amd im pretty sure the mattress was a wooden plank. On the upside, the room was big, it was a close enough location to old town and had great wifi. I realise it is a backpackers but for the cost you can get much nicer accommodation in the center of the old town and across the bridge!

  Pros - the staff here are not only super friendly, but super helpful, too. They speak English very well, know the best locations in Hoi An to visit, where to get great food, cheap drinks, and where the best tourist attractions are at. The beds are clean...ish, and they're not too uncomfortable (at least in our dorm) but they're definitely not the greatest I've slept in. The lockers are secure and the rooms can also be locked for extra security. The location is great - only 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre, which is very convenient because that is where you're going to spend most of your time in Hoi An. ||||Cons - Our room (Floor 1) did have a rat living in the ceiling somewhere that kept us up at night. This caused the smell of rat urine to permeate throughout our room, which was bad, because there's no way to air the rooms out. Not only that, but this was a big, noisy rat. It will keep you up at night because it makes a whole lot of noise as it scurries across the ceiling. I did also find my asthma playing up for the first time in Vietnam so far, which I'm assuming is due to mould, rat hair/poo or other allergens.||||Excellent staff, but poor rooms, all in all I'm sad to say that I can't really recommend this place for the price they ask. Maybe the rooms are nicer upstairs. But in my experience of Hoi An, there is a cleaner and cheaper place just across the road that only charges 5USD per night.

  Hoi An is a world heritage site so hostels are more expensive than the rest of Vietnam. 135,000d a night doesn't get you much: a clean single bed in a dorm, cold A/C and a room and ensuite shower/toilet room cleaned everyday. Staff help you out as much as possible and can book any travel onwards. ||House backpackers also has a better location than any of the pricier Western style hostels which are over 15 mintues walk away from the centre. ||If you are on a strict budget there's not much better.

  best service I think I've ever had .......... I booked two nights here but only stayed for one as I'd messed up my dates for travel, they said don't worry about it so i payed for one night.... Friendliest and very good English speaking staff. Its got a small but very nice pool, plenty of space to longue around. it cost next to nothing and i would put the place as a three star hotel. i even checked out and the let me use a shower after that. if you book a bus through them you will pay a extra dollar or two, but they do it quick, with a smile and explain everything (you get what you pay for). i would recommend this place to any backpacker or even the a bit more upmarket than that..... would happily stay a week here if i had the time.... p.s did i mention its beautiful and not far from the town... i loved it.

  We stayed at house backpackers for 4 nights. The location was great, only a 5 minute walk to the old town. The room was large and clean, and the bed was not hard as a rock. It was also nice to have the small balcony to get some fresh air. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and we're not pushy in any way when it came to tours/transport/etc; which was appreciated, especially in Hoi An where the pressure seems to be constantly on to buy something. Thank you so much to the staff for making our stay enjoyable!
