Overall, a great experience. It was overlooking the river with local markets nearby. Breakfast was great with many options to suit western taste buds .

The location of the river hotel has a nice river view as the name of it. we were unable to make reservation online but came anyway and rooms were available. did not see a lot of guesses around and were wondering why. we checked in very quickly after selected the rooms. we had room 503 and 505. 505 was where I stayed and only applied to this review. room is ok for the price we picked. it’s seemed like it’s in the process of remodeling, room had smell of new paint and we had to open window and running the a/c to air the smell out. there’s no tv for the room, maybe because the remodeling is not completed. there are a few things I just want to make sure travelers be aware when staying room 505 bathtub is higher than normal and there’s no curtain. it’d be very slippery after a shower/bath. so be careful of getting in and out of the bathtub. this is the safety concern the hot water can be intermittent, I had to wait for more than 3 minutes to have hot water. the next morning I don’t have the hot water and had to to a shower with cold water. after the cold shower, I called the front desk. the maintenance team was very quick and came. but he checked it out and the hot water is there. I was a little embarrassed but it truly happened to me. I reported water issue just to make sure my wife had a hot water shower. the bluestone water boiler should not be used or it must have the attention at all when using it. no auto shutoff after the water boiled. this is the safety concern. I hope the hotel would be improved

A nice hotel. The room spacious like we have had before in 4-star hotels. Everything is clean. There are 2 comfortable chairs next to the window. The window looked towards the river, a nice view, fresh air coming in, no need for the air-conditioning. The sun comes up in the left corner of the room though, and continues shining more into the room when climbing higher. The bathroom has a bath with shower. The shower head can't be moved up/down. There is hot water immediately. The beds are comfortable, with good eiderdowns. A nice hotel, a nice environment. We thought..... We came back at 19.00h. in front of the hotel there is a boulevard. To the right, some distance, people sit to eat and drink. And do karaoke ... Like everywhere in Vietnam, so that you hear it in Tokyo .... It continued until 22.50h. Vietnam has a law against that, louder than 100 db is not allowed, but the police never comes. So after 1 day of hard travelling we could not sleep until 11 in the evening, exhausted and fed-up. The hotel, 8.5 points Western standard. But we will not come back here, when we come back here in 5 days, because of the much too loud karaoke noise.

I'm giving 2 stars because I felt the service was great - the staff were friendly and helpful. It is also a great location - nice view and convenient to anything I needed. But I can't give anymore stars as my room itself was dreadful.I think the hotel started off with the best intentions, but have lacked upkeep. The was a damp/mold issue that made the room smell, and I had to have the windows open. Most of it just seemed like basic cleaning - like the mold on the telephone wires, fan vents, shower walls. And there were also loose tiles that creaked when you walked over them. Hopefully they will try to maintain the place better and it would be a great place to stay.

Staff said restaurant was open and it wasn’t, asked for recommendations and the places they recommended were closed or abandoned. Room was bang average but doors hanging off.. honestly I convinced my girlfriend to stay here as we were back packing and we’d been staying in hostels and I said to her look please let me book this hotel, it’s plush and it looks amazing , it’s got a bath tub ! A little treat for ourselves ! Arguably one of the worst places we’ve stayed at!! I’m honestly normally trying to see the good of everything but this genuinely disappointed me

I am only reviewing the restaurant of this place, I didn't stay at the hotel. Worst breakfast I've had in Vietnam so far. Here are the problems: Food: We ordered the rice + egg + pork, they only served us rice and eggs because the ran out of pork. I don't know why they didn't just come back to our table and tell us they didn't have any pork instead of serving us only the rice and eggs. When I pointed out the problem they said they would serve me some kebab pork and then delivered fried hotdog and disgusting looking fried fat. If that is what you call a kebab, you just don't know what food is. Service: the guy that manages this place needs to give his servers some space, he was hovering over them the entire time, pulling aggressively at their arms and attempting to translate English to French then to Vietnamese. The only thing that was good about this place was the fact that they discounted the meal because of all the problems. My advice to them is to tell people if they can't serve the whole meal and for the front of house manager to chill out.

Our room was quite large and reasonably clean. The hotel was probably reasonably smart about 25 years ago. However, now the fixtures and fittings are at a bit tired and grotty. All the carpets in the communal areas have big stains and the whole place looks like it could do with a refurbishment. The staff seemed reasonably friendly but nobody could speak a word of English (to be fair, I could not speak any Vietnamese either!) There also seemed to be a problem with rats in the roof space which were incredibly noisy during the night as they scuttled about. Our rooms which were both similarly affected were on the top floor so it might not be a problem on lower floors. The restaurant was surprisingly good.

The reception is very friendly but some of the floor tiles need to be fixed!
