I recently had the chance to take a trip from Hà Tiên to Phú Quốc using the Superdong ferry, and let me tell you, it was such a relaxed, refreshing experience! If you’re looking for an easy-going way to get from the mainland to the island, this is definitely the way to go. Here’s a look at my trip and how it all went down. ⸻ Starting Out in Hà Tiên The journey kicked off in the sleepy town of Hà Tiên, a quiet coastal spot near the Vietnam-Cambodia border. I grabbed breakfast at a little local café near the ferry terminal—Bánh mì and a freshly brewed coffee to get the day started right. If you’re in Hà Tiên, I totally recommend taking it easy before hopping on the ferry. It’s a peaceful little town, and a great way to start the trip. Once I finished breakfast, I made my way to the Superdong ferry terminal, which is only a short distance from most places in Hà Tiên. The whole vibe around here is chill, with local fishermen, small shops selling snacks, and the general buzz of the port. ⸻ Boarding the Superdong Ferry After buying my ticket, I boarded the Superdong ferry—a sleek boat that runs from Hà Tiên to Phú Quốc, with a quick stop at Rạch Giá. The ferry’s seating is comfortable, with both indoor and outdoor options, but I chose to sit outside on the deck to enjoy the sea breeze. As soon as we left the dock, the views were stunning. The ferry cut through the water, leaving Hà Tiên behind, and ahead was just endless blue ocean. It felt like the kind of perfect day to just unwind. I grabbed a cold coconut and a snack from the onboard shop. There’s something about sipping fresh coconut water while feeling the wind on your face that’s just perfect, right? ⸻ Scenic Ride + Quick Stop at Rạch Giá The ferry ride is about 2 hours long, which honestly felt like the perfect amount of time to just kick back. On the way, we passed by tiny islands, fishing boats, and the occasional pod of dolphins (or at least I like to think they were dolphins). It wasn’t crowded at all, so it felt really private and relaxed. We made a brief stop at Rạch Giá, a busy port town. It wasn’t the most exciting place to stop, but it gave us a chance to stretch our legs and look around. There are small shops selling snacks, so I grabbed a few grilled squid skewers to snack on. The locals were friendly, and I got to chat a little bit while watching the bustling life around the docks.
