Fantastic hostel! We had double bed pod in a shared dorm for 4 nights. Very clean bathrooms in each dorm, well ventilated space with aircons. Pods are nice and clean, fresh nice smelling linens, comfortable bedding. Central location. 2 minutes walk to the beach, Ferry bus stops just opposite. Friday, Saturday - live music in the restaurant below - with very good but a bit pricey food. Cosy roof terrace with the most wonderful sunset views!

Downstairs restaurant: The food is amazing, I fell in love with their cinnamon yogurt bowl and couldn’t stop ordering it. I was less into their cocktails downstairs but I think because upstairs is so good! Good happy hour deals! 10k beer 🍻 Hostel: Great location, shame there is no longer a sea view but it’s well connected. The staff are very knowledgeable and go above and beyond to help you, super nice! The private room we stayed in could do with a bedside lamp and some minor renovations but overall it was very spacious and had a great view and balcony. Rooftop bar: Amazing cocktails, they taste so good! Great happy hour deal, 100k a cocktail. Recommend the Cat Ong Island cocktail!

I stayed for one night as I had no idea of what else to do in the Ha Long area and was pleasantly surprised. The hostel is located on the main street so walking to all the restaurants are very close-by. On top of that, the frontdesk, Mei, was super helpful in recommending me places to explore on the island. I got to explore the hospital cave and Cat Ba National Park with her help which was an unforgettable experience. The room is pretty standard for any hostels, toilet was clean as well. Most importantly the roof top communal space provides a great view and has a gaming place with a play station, it also turns into a bar at night perfect for socializing.

Great cozy pod hostel on Cat Ba island! The price is really affordable and the hostel is attached to a restaurant on the ground floor and a rooftop bar upstairs. The pod itself is quite spacious, has a shelf for personal items and a lockable cabinet for valuables. The room has 6 bunks and a bathroom and was overall quite clean. The host Mei is absolutely amazing, she helped me book a taxi and ferry to Halong, amazing service!

We only stayed here one night but enjoyed it. The rooms were clean, the pods spacious with lots of room to put your things and the aircon worked well. Mei was lovely and was very helpful and welcoming. There was a nice bar on the rooftop where we watched the fireworks from. It’s located in the very centre of town near lots of restaurants and everything going on. The only down side was it was loud at night, all the sounds seemed to echo up the stairwells and into the rooms but it was also extra busy out on the streets as we stayed during the Vietnamese holiday.

I stayed here for three nights while exploring Cat Ba town. Overall, it was an okay experience, but unfortunately, it ended on a disappointing note. The hostel itself has some positives: they have an on-site tour desk, and I booked a tour through them which was truly the highlight of my stay, my guide was amazing and the tour was a great experience. The hostel also has a restaurant with many vegetarian options. One thing to note is that the beautiful beachfront view shown in photos is no longer what you get, the beach area is currently under construction, so the surroundings aren’t as scenic as expected. The main reason I’m leaving this review is to share an unfortunate final interaction. On my last morning, I was still in bed at 10:20 a.m. (with checkout clearly listed as 11 a.m.) taking care of something urgent on my phone before leaving. A housekeeper entered, told me to check out, and when I responded that I just needed a few minutes, she began removing the sheets from the bed while I was still sitting in it. I found this very uncomfortable and disrespectful. Even when I asked for a moment to finish what I was doing, she stood there watching me, making the whole situation feel unnecessarily rushed and tense. Customer service begins at check-in and lasts until checkout, and unfortunately, this abrupt and intrusive interaction left a sour taste after an otherwise ok stay. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as a simple reminder that guests should be treated with respect and given the full time promised for their stay.

I mostly booked because the pods looked quite private from the pics. It was indeed so, but the size of the room is not even enough to open two suitcases simultaneously. It was also cold (I stayed in December), but AC only works for cooling. The staff was very helpful tho, they gave me a lot of advice and provided a second blanket. The hostel has no common space really, so it was impossible to socialize. Also while I was there no “hostel activities” were organized. I felt pretty isolated as a solo traveler. It might be a good cheap option for one night if you want privacy, but I was looking for more social vibe so this place was not for me.

This is 2nd time I stay in The Pod hostel. I booked a bed in the dorm ( 3 nights), but everyone has their own private space inside a cozy box-style bed. The bed is also spacious and comfortable. There's a rooftop bar and a restaurant called Little Leaf on the ground floor, serving Mexican food. I noticed they also have live music on some nights, which adds to the great atmosphere.||The hostel offers full services like booking round-trip bus tickets between Hanoi and Haiphong, as well as hiking tours. Vu took really good care of us during our stay. Highly recommend!
