  Staff here are incredible. They are kind, helpful, friendly, and just welcoming. Delicious food, a lovely pool, and a pool table. Rooms are clean and cute. You can even rent a motorbike from them. Will definitely be back!

  This was a great hostel to stay on Cat Ba island! Currently lots of Cat Ba is under construction to repair damage from the September typhoon, so the main town is quite busy and loud, but we had a wonderful and relaxing time while staying at Republic. The staff are so helpful, and let us extend our stay from 2 nights to 6 nights. The rooms are clean and the food and motorbikes are fairly priced. There are sweet and friendly cats and dogs, a lovely pool to relax, and a nice social scene without being overwhelming or too party-centered. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

  Overall a great stay! The staff were so helpful organizing tours, onward travel etc. The communal areas were lovely with a nice vibe, not too 'party' more chilled which was exactly what we wanted. Food and drink good value and tasty. Approx 5km out of town but tours pick you up direct from the hostel and if you hire a bike it's an easy ride into town. Bathrooms could have been cleaner and the scooters aren't in the best condition but honestly for the price you can't fault it!

  The best hostel I stayed at on my journey through Vietnam. The atmosphere was wonderful and the personnel was so helpful and friendly. All the extra services they offer make it 5/5. Especially the free scooter if you stay longer than 3 days was such a nice surprise. The mix of foreign and local people working there was perfect for communication. It also has one of the most adorable cats (outside) running around.

  I had a great experience staying here. The front desk staff were super friendly and always ready to help. My room was clean, nicely set up, and reasonably priced. What stood out the most was how they recommended some amazing local spots to explore. It’s not often you meet such kind and genuine people. I truly felt welcomed and taken care of. Highly recommended!!!!

  We really enjoyed this place! The common areas were awesome! It was so relaxing laying by the pool surrounded by trees (and lots of cute kittens!!). It was a really cool atmosphere. The free breakfast every morning was great it and we loved the coffee, it came in proper coffee mugs which made us very happy! The staff were very kind and helpful. My only complaint was our private room bathroom was pretty dirty and grimy and smelled weird. But besides that I would still stay here again!

  Beds are a little stiff, and it’s a bit far from town, but that’s nitpicking. You can rent scooters from the hostel for cheap which is recommended, and the staff and pets are as sweet and helpful as possible. The breakfast is delicious and a higher standard than most. The garden area and pool are a highlight!

  Nice hostel with a great pool, food was delicious and Taran one of the staff members was very lovely and accommodating. Made us some delicious drinks :) thanks legend! Bikes are available to rent for the day, other staff were helpful in booking a day tour for me to Ha long.
