We had the fried mantis shrimp with lemon sauce twice in one day because it was so tasty. The first time it was served (lunch) was much easier to eat, maybe because they were very busy in the evening. The sauce was delicious. We also ordered a squid and pineapple dish with lunch and fried rice with dinner. All very good. When we arrived in town we tried to eat here in the late afternoon (3pm? and late evening (after 930) and it seems like most places on the road don't serve at those times, just so you know!

My partner and I had the best fish we’ve ever eaten here. The place is clean and tidy, it was busy when we walked past and the menu looked great along with all the live/fresh seafood. We were in a famous fishing town so couldn’t not order seafood. We both ordered the grilled fish with lemon, garlic and tomato and it was DIVINE! The WHOLE fish each, huge portion and it came with rice. We also ordered some greens and a couple of drinks and all for such a good price (£~15 for both of us)

10/10 meal! We had the garlic butter oysters, the grilled squid with ginger and tomatoes, and the crab, shrimp, and egg fried rice. Everything was delicious and the service was quick. Would definitely make a stop here!

We had dinner at this restaurant and we couldn’t be happier. The seafood was excellent, the boiled fish incredibly delicious and it came to our table in no time. All at absolutely reasonable prices. A local guy recommended us this restaurant and it was perfect for us

Very good seafood! I enjoyed the baked clams either lemon and garlic and another evening I also tried the lemon sauce fish. It was absolutely delicious!

Quân Cat Ba came highly recommended by a local as the best seafood in town, and it absolutely delivered. It’s a true family-run spot, with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere—kids playing in the evening while the parents manage the restaurant. The location is right on the main promenade, overlooking what used to be the bay before construction took over. Still, it has that lively, local charm. We ordered the fried rice with shrimp, crab, and egg, which was simple but perfectly executed. The grilled oysters with garlic and butter were rich and flavorful—next time, we’d probably opt for lemon for a bit more balance. The fried winter melon was a nice surprise, light and crispy. For fresh, well-prepared seafood in an unfussy setting, this place is a great choice.

Is it the best seafood I’ve had ? No. Is it fresh? I wouldn't say is rotten, I could tell it was frozen. It’s a pass. Look, people said the sauce was nice but if the seafood was fresh and plump, you wouldn't need any sauce to mask its freshness. Any real seafood lover would know that. I ordered two things to test out. Stir fried Mantis shrimp and grilled oysters. Both got a tasty sauce but the quality of seafood is very average. I was hoping to see them retrieve my seafood from their tanks which seemingly showcasing their live seafood but they did NOT retrieve anything from the tank which led me to believe it’s only for showing. Completely different to how I have experienced it in Hong Kong. The seafood wasn't plump nor succulent. I also went at a quiet time- 4pm so no excuse for not doing a good job. I so far have tried two seafood restaurants in Cat ba, I have been disappointed both times because being so close to the fishing villages and the sea, I expected better quality seafood. They just either dont know how to prepare them or wouldnt give tourists the good stuff. I wouldnt really try seafood in Cat ba. It’s a trap. Dont bother trying seafood unless you are seriously craving it and please lower your expectations. Ps: this was recommended by a local

The seafood is not fresh... A little disappointed since we were recommended this place. Presentation is good, and the vegetables and spring rolls were ok, but not the rest
