Staying here this April was easily the highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly approachable and polite, greeting us with genuine smiles that immediately made us feel at home. Their accommodating nature is truly top-tier; they went above and beyond to help arrange great tour, secure onward travel, and even offered fantastic local food recommendations that you won’t find in guidebooks. The service was consistently satisfying, with receptionists willing to help with everything from airport scam prevention to organizing late-night check-ins. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and centrally located in District 1, offering a peaceful retreat just steps from the hustle. Friendly, efficient, and exceptionally hospitable—I would highly recommend City Backpackers Hostel to everyone traveling to Vietnam! It's a 5-star hostel experience on a backpacker budget!.

  Well positioned with decent pricing. Wasn't too noisy during my stay. As it appears in other comment on arrival you get provided with a map of the surrounded and some really good advise regarding Hcmc and about your trip in vietnam in general, just for the sake of answering questions this place should be on your first stop even more if you don't have a super defined trip. (There is also a water dispenser free of use as long you have a bottle of water which doesn't require human interaction) On top of being helpful the staff is nice has well ((: thanks it was a great stop for me (Had a room of 4)

  We didn’t stay here so can’t comment on the rooms but we rented a scooter and had nothing but a fantastic service. The gentleman who greeted us and showed us the bike was so friendly and very informative about the different bikes. The ladies inside were extremely helpful and went above an beyond in helping us deal with some visa issues. The location is excellent, Cousins be better. If we were to come back we wouldn’t definitely stay there too.

  Perfect place to stay for a few days in Ho Chi Minh. It's really easy to get to with public transport, and it's right in the heart of District 1 so everything you could want attraction and food wise is within walking distance. I stayed in the 10-bed dorm which was quite comfortable and always clean. The staff are all very friendly and happy to help with any requests. Elizabeth and James at the front desk were really helpful in planning my stay in Ho Chi Minh and beyond. I highly recommend!

  The best experience I have ever had with a hostel… from the hospitality to the magical atmosphere. If you are unsure of where to stay in Ho Cho Min City this is the place for you! It’s in the heart of the bustling downtown and is not far from any of the fun activities. Thank you to James an amazing working for hooking it up with the tour!

  Solo female traveller here. I had a really great stay at City backpackers hostel. The location is perfect. The premises were clean and well staffed at all times. Elizabeth at the front desk is super helpful. I stayed in a private room, with ensuite bathroom, for 3 nights and was super comfortable. I highly recommend this place.

  Service was disgraceful, booked through Agoda on the receipt stated price for 3 people in one 6 bed dorm. This was paid in full, when we arrived at the hotel the staff had said they had tried to contact us but we hadn't received this when our number was visible and linked to Agoda, the staff then tells us that we have only paid for 1 bed in the dorm not 3 which was conflicting information to what we had paid for and received confirmation of. The business were not taking any responsibility for this issue with there booking company, given the property wanted double the amount we had already paid. We explained to the staff that if this was stated clearly on the booking that we would not have chosen to stay here as it was more expensive than other hostels (especially when on a budget travelling). We were trying to reason with the staff but they simply were not seeing this from our side - would not recommend this hostel.

  this is a review for their dorm - btw their dorm are all double deck. I don't know why they have the single bed on the photos. the dorm room is very good. they have tables inside since they don't have a common spaces outside. I just wish they have a kitchen though. Other than that, people at the reception are very helpful and understands English well.
