  Good tour services and a super friendly English speaking guide, Mr. Tony, who took great care of us throughout the Mekong Delta tour. The experience was thoughtfully planned and included coconut candy making, visits to bee farms, and multiple scenic boat rides that made the day memorable. Everything was smooth, informative, and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Mekong Delta.

  Me and my girlfriend, we booked a one-day Mekong Delta tour with Kim Delta Travel in Saigon, mainly because it was recommended by the Le Routard guidebook. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment and, in my opinion, a real tourist trap. Apart from the bus journey, the roughly six hours of “excursion” on the Mekong seemed to have only one real purpose: stopping at an endless series of markets and activities of questionable authenticity. In total we made six commercial stops. Six. In six hours. Rather than a Mekong tour, it felt like a forced and carefully constructed shopping tour. A day literally wasted. The places you visit are easily reachable by car or motorbike; it’s a populated and fairly busy area. The small canals where you take the rowing boats inside the island look more like a 1990s tourist theme park than an authentic experience. I’m from Venice, so I know very well that in 2026 seeing people moving around by rowing boat in a tourist location is almost always a performance staged for visitors (with all due respect to my beloved gondolieri). Lunch takes place in a facility where animal suffering seems to have been turned into post-meal entertainment. Visitors are told they will see snakes and crocodiles (they even mention alligators, which do not exist in Vietnam), but what you actually find are rows of concrete tanks, each containing a different type of animal — fish, frogs or crocodiles. Several of the animals appeared to be kept in very poor conditions, with clear signs of overcrowding. Some had visible injuries such as mutilated or bleeding limbs, which strongly raises concerns about animal welfare and the way these animals are being kept. I completely understand that tourism is an important source of income and that people need to make a living. But there should still be some limits, including moral ones. In any case, once we got back on the boat to return to the bus, we thought the tour was finally over. Instead, the most absurd moment came at the very end: once on the bus to go back to Saigon, the guide told us he would take us to some “clean toilets” before departure (which nobody had asked for). When we arrived, we were practically forced to get off the bus… only to find ourselves in front of a live sales pitch, something straight out of a 1990s Miracle Blade–style infomercial, selling bamboo fiber products (see photo). At that point it was obvious: one last commercial stop before returning. In short: a waste of time and a tour designed almost entirely to sell things to tourists. I strongly recommend avoiding it. PS: The guide himself was very friendly, welcoming and professional. This negative experience is clearly not his responsibility, but that of whoever designed and organized the tour.
