I finally had the chance to visit Bao La – Hidden Bar on a weekday evening, and I honestly think it deserves far more attention. The timing was perfect—midweek meant the bar wasn’t too crowded, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere where you could truly enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. The cocktail menu was one of the most interesting I’ve seen in Huế, offering a wide variety of creative drinks. Every cocktail we tried was well-balanced, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The biggest highlight, though, was the head bartender. He wasn’t just making drinks—he was telling stories. His passion, knowledge, and charisma made every conversation genuinely engaging. You can tell he loves what he does, and that energy makes the whole experience unforgettable. The ambiance is another reason to visit. It’s cozy, stylish, and full of character, making it perfect whether you’re looking for a great cocktail, a memorable night out, or simply a beautiful place to take photos. If you’re someone who enjoys aesthetic cafés and bars, this spot is definitely Instagram-worthy. Without a doubt, Bao La – Hidden Bar is one of the must-visit bars in Huế. Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a unique place to spend an evening, I highly recommend stopping by. I’ll definitely be back.

Well worth a visit in both the day and night. By day, they have lovely teas and juices that they put together like mocktails. At night, they have a great selection of signatures cocktails all stunningly presented. Cool and cosy atmosphere, a hidden gem!

Wonderful speakeasy-style cocktail bar hidden down a laneway, with beautiful ambiance, serving outstanding original cocktails that are expertly crafted, and inspired by local flavours. Plus some theatric presentation. What they are doing, hidden away down a laneway in Hue, is on par with the best cocktail bars in the world. Outstanding.

We found this hidden bar, and the vibe was great. Ordered 6 cocktails, and while they took time to arrive, they were worth it. The detail was fab and the taste of the all was excellent. We stayed for 2 more each, even though that wasn’t the plan!!! We left at closing time but on the morning, my wife realised she had left her handbag there. We walked to the bar at 9am to find it opens 7am to midnight, and the same guy who was behind the bar was there again and recognised my wife and produced the bag from behind the bar. We were so grateful and nothing (including cash and cards) had been touched….excellent service, thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Free snacks, amazing drinks, hidden bar gem tucked in an alleyway. Drinks range from 120k to 220k (upper range).

great spot! popular with the instagram gang so lots of people taking photos which is a bit strange but i do understand why as the atmosphere and decor of the bar is very lovely. but the good news is it’s not only an instagram trap with poor quality drinks. we had delicious old fashioneds here and the staff really care about the quality of drinks they’re putting out. also didn’t mind that we turned up with massive backpacks on before catching our night bus, so that was a plus! comfy seats and good tunes

This bar doesn’t care about your expectations. This place does not try hard to make a good review. The decor, the bar staff, the cocktails, are all too cool to really care about what you think. They are here to provide quality drinks, so just enjoy yourself and don’t expect to be pampered. The music is real jazz music, rather than vapid pop-jazz covers. This place has an overall feminine vibe, so the taste is classic and refined.

Tucked away in a labyrinthine alley, far from the neon glare of the main streets, lies Baola – a speakeasy that feels like a well-kept secret whispered among friends. Finding it is part of the adventure, a modern-day treasure hunt that rewards the curious with an unforgettable night. From the moment I stepped through the unassuming entrance, I was graciously welcomed by Mr. Duong, whose warmth and genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire evening. He isn't just a host; he's a storyteller, a connoisseur of fine spirits, and the heart and soul of Baola. His passion is infectious, and he possesses an uncanny ability to make every guest feel like a cherished friend. The bar itself is a masterpiece of intimate design. Dimly lit with a sophisticated, moody ambiance, the space is adorned with eclectic decor that hints at a bygone era. The soft murmur of conversation and the clinking of ice against crystal create a symphony of relaxation, a perfect escape from the city's relentless energy. The cocktail menu is a testament to craftsmanship, featuring both innovative creations and flawlessly executed classics. I started with a Long Island Iced Tea, which was dangerously smooth and perfectly balanced—a testament to the bartender's skill. Later, I savored an Old Fashioned, and it was sublime. The rich, deep flavors of the whiskey were beautifully complemented by the subtle sweetness and bitters, served with a perfect, crystal-clear ice cube. Watching the bartenders at work is a performance in itself – a precise and graceful dance of shaking, stirring, and garnishing. What truly sets Baola apart, however, is the personalized experience curated by Mr. Duong. He took the time to understand my preferences, guiding me through the menu with insightful recommendations and sharing the fascinating stories behind each creation. His attentiveness was impeccable, striking the perfect balance between being present and allowing for personal space. Baola is more than just a bar; it's an experience. It's a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer things in life, a place where exquisite drinks and heartfelt conversations flow freely. If you're seeking an authentic and intimate night out, I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out this hidden gem. And when you arrive, be sure to say hello to Mr. Duong – his welcome is the key to unlocking the magic of Baola.
