The reception and the bathroom don't give a good impression but the hostel is the most friendly of the hostels I have been in Vietnam. The girls at the reception are friendly and they provide free maps and lots of advice. They also organise a free tour on Tuesday and Thursday. Every night they have a "family meal" which cost only 70000 and definitely worth the money. I strongly recommend this hostel for lone travels that wants to make friends.

Sociable hostel but not excessive. The free Vietnamese lesson and family dinner following are a great way to meet the other guests and share travel tips. Plenty of tours and activities which can be booked at reception with the help of the super friendly staff. Nice rooms, and beds have curtains for privacy. Amazing showers and very clean overall. My favourite hostel in Vietnam so far

This stay was amazing, only spent one night here and I’m so happy we choose this hostel! The beds and shower might be a bit basic but the staff definitely made up for that. It really felt like they genuinely cared about you and were eager to help you with anything you could need help with! They arrange family dinner and Vietnamese lessons everyday. The food was among the best I’ve had here in Vietnam and the lesson was so much fun! If you staying in Hue for a night or so I would definitely recommend this place!

A good hostel for people who don't mind going for a low-budget place. The showers are nice and warm, dormbeds had curtains. Most of all the staff is very nice and friendly. They organise (amongst others) family dinners, cooking and Vietnamese classes.

The freedom hostel in Hue was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at. From the moment that you walk in, to the moment that you leave you are made to feel so welcome by the staff working at the hostel. The family atmosphere and caring attitude makes the hostel feel homely and comfortable. I felt so comfortable that I extended my stay, even though I had seen most of the sights in Hue already. The daily atmosphere in the hostel is social and warm. The dorm rooms are clean and comfortable and I slept really well there. The family dinner was so beautiful, we started by learning some Vietnamese, then sat and ate together, following this the staff from the hostel created games for us to play as a group (on this occasion it was riddles and brain teasers). The evening was chilled and social. I would say that this is a perfect spot for solo travelers. I can’t wait to return there when I am nearby to meet some of the friends that I made at the hostel again.

Amazing hostel, we ended up booking 2 more nights because we liked it so much. The Vietnamese lessons and family dinner are great. Very friendly and helpful people working there, they really want to help you out. Location is perfect as well, close to nice bars and walking distance to the citadel.

This is the friendliest hostel I have stayed at in Vietnam. The girls who run it make a great effort to involve guests in the life of the hostel. Each evening a language lesson is followed by the 'family dinner' - a varied selection of dishes for a modest price - taken seated on the floor, and a session of games.|The facilities are good and comfortable. A good choice of breakfast dishes is included. The hostel is at some distance from the bus and train stations but convenient for the restaurant and night life district and for Hue Imperial Citadel.|Two afternoons a week a local students' club will take hostel guests on a motorcycle sightseeing tour in exchange for English conversation. Well worth doing.|Avoid bunk #2 in the six bed dorm - it's directly under the air conditioner.

Had a wonderful stay at the Freedom Hostel.||What's best about this hostel is the family friendly vibe and the staff. They are friendly, helpful and super fun. Family Dinner is a MUST, and afterwards be prepared to play some fun Vietnamese games with the staff and fellow travelers 😁||Honestly, I can't compliment the staff enough for making me feel welcome and part of the family (and joining me in my playful banter!). Nhung was especially helpful helping me sort out my SIM card and other traveling issues. Thanks so much!|Keep up the great work, Freedom!
