Neat restaurant and friendly service to accompany our best meal so far on our Vietnam tour. We ordered the spring rolls (nem ran), lemongrass grilled chicken (nem lui), beef & pork pho (bun bo), seafood hotpot (lau hai san) & banh nam (flat rice dumpling). More than enough for 4 adults.

We enjoyed our meals here so much that we visited twice during our stay. If you can, aim for an early dinner around 5:00 PM to snag a spot on their lovely patio seating—we walked by during lunch another day and the place was absolutely packed! This is a true family-run restaurant, and you can feel the heart they put into it. Our server both nights was incredible—friendly, fun to talk to, and he even greeted us with a hug when we returned the second evening. Must-Order Dishes: Fried Spring Rolls (Nem Ran): These are a "must." The pork and shrimp combo is incredibly flavorful, and the wrapper has a perfect, satisfying crunch. We ordered them both days! Hue Style Grilled Pork Skewers (Nem Lui): Very fresh and packed with local seasoning. Banh Beo: An essential appetizer. The combination of the delicate rice cake, savory sauce, and fried shallots is awesome. Hue Beef Noodle Soup (Bun Bo Hue): The broth is deeply flavorful, and the crab cake inside was delicious. Other Notes: The shrimp tempura was solid, and the shrimp fried rice was a decent, dependable option. They have a great selection of fresh juices, and they provide complimentary passion fruit for dessert, which is a lovely touch. Verdict: Madam Thu 2 offers a clean, welcoming atmosphere with some of the best traditional flavors in Hue. Between the top-tier food and the genuine hospitality, it’s a highlight of the city.

I absolutely loved Madam Thu 2! We ordered the bun bo, bahn mi, coconut coffee, banana smoothie and mango smootie. Everything we ate was so delicious and you could tell that it was all made with care. The ingredients were fresh. I particularly loved the coconut coffee and ended up having a few of them. It was rich, creamy and refreshing with a nice coconut flavour. The crunchy coconut flakes sprinkled over the top gave it a good texture too. It was one of the best coconut coffees I have had! Even though the atmosphere of the restaurant was a little fancier in comparison to some others nearby, prices were really good and we thought it was relatively inexpensive. Service was excellent throughout. Attention to detail was made. We were given a very warm greeting both upon entering and leaving the restaurant. Madam Thu herself even came out to greet us! We were given just the right amount of time to read through the menu and decide what to order. Staff brought out refresher towels in the meantime. We were given complimentary passionfruit to refresh our palates. Staff were very warm, welcoming, helpful, attentive and efficient. The restaurant can get very busy and understandably so. I would highly recommend coming to eat and drink here!

We went to Madam Thu for dinner and had a really enjoyable experience. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and felt very authentic to the region. There’s a great range of local dishes to choose from, and everything we ordered came out quickly and was well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable — perfect for a casual dinner. Prices were very reasonable for the quality. Definitely a great spot if you’re looking for tasty local food in a welcoming setting.

Our first intro into Hue cuisine was Madam Thu and it did not disappoint! I don’t know the difference between 2 and the original but when we went, we had no choice on the matter since the original Madam Thu was still being renovated. As unfamiliar as we were with Hue food, the menu was easy enough to navigate, with the first few pages dedicated to all the great Hue hits where we got the Bun Bo Hue and the sampler dish which had Nem Ran, Nem Lui, Banh Khoai, Banh Nam, Banh Loc, Banh Beo, Banh It, Goi Cuon Tom Thit and Banh Uot and before eating the server made a quick demonstration on how each should be consumed. The Bun Bo Hue was nice and hearty while the platter was thoroughly enjoyable. Those dishes alone were good enough for two and such a great welcome into the city of Hue. We came in at lunch time and it wasn’t so packed and we were seated immediately. Really great place to get your first Hue meal.

While visiting Hue we stopped in at Madam Thu 2 for a light dinner. On a Monday night there was a steady clientele but all Westerners. Food was very tasty and service was quick and polite. Limited selection of beers available but do have a small selection of wines and cocktails. They charge 5% for card payment. Overall had a great night.

We came to this restaurant as a recommendation, but I think it’s a place to send tourists really - no local people eating here, whereas places around were full and without tourist. The atmosphere was okay, we sat outside by the road as it was more lively. Staff was very kind but one was a bit intense as he kept interrupting us whilst eating, ‘teaching’ us which sauce goes with which roll/pancake, etc. even after our waitress already explained it all. At the end of the dinner she brought us a plastic hook to attach to our big bottle of water, so we could take it away, very lively gesture! The food overall was good, we had a mix platter with different type of nem, fried and fresh pancakes, and other rice bites - it’s a good option to try different things. We also ordered a plate of shrimp and pork summer rolls which were very good. Not massive plates but enough as we weren’t super hungry. Very affordable, the platter was 220k and the nem 90k.

I visited this place because the daily tour took us there. Honestly, the food was authentic but didn’t have anything special in particular. Hardly recommend to visit any other place in Hue. My expectations were high since it has so many (and good reviews) but I visited better restaurants in Hue like Maison Trang.
