Amazing roasted duck which is the dish you have to try. All other dishes were nice but the star was really the duck. Eat it whilst hot with the crispy skin else the humidity will quickly turn it soggy. Just order the most simple duck , no lemony grass etc so you can really taste the meat. Also forget knives and forks when eating the duck - use your hands , the local way! The fresh spring rolls also deserve a special mention as well as the fried ones. The goat was a little tough The banana flower salad was a very refreshing complement to the duck and also the fried spinach which I thought were more sweet potato vines. If you go when it’s busy you can wait up to 30 mn for a duck

We came here several times during our stay and we always had a great time. Highly recommend the roasted duck and the braised pork. The goat has a very particular and specific taste, the staff will warn you about that, but we loved it! Every other dish we had was good, you can't go wrong here! Service is pretty efficient, the staff is super nice and the owner is great!! I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back if I have the opportunity to travel back to Tam Coc. Et merci pour le mango sticky rice lors de notre dernier dîner avant de quitter la région ☺️

This came highly recommended… both online and the hotel we are staying We ordered roast duck, grilled goat and soft braised pork plus papaya salad. Rice was free. They have a lot of people… and service was ok. Food: Among the three, the duck tasted better. The grilled goat is the worse one. Its hard, chewy, dry and not much spice. The soft braised beef is not soft. Its dry as well. The only good thing going for it is the soup. The duck… well its not as we expect it to be. Bit soft… and has ok crispy skin… but overall… not that great. The papaya salad… was dry and lacked sauce. Of all the dishes serve… the free rice was the best. Its better than most rice i have tasted. Comparable to some rice in thenPhilippines. I guess it is overhyped or it was delicious in the past… but not now. Based on the food we ate. Price. Not value for money

We went for dinner there. It was very busy already (around 6pm). The food came quite fast. We ordered half of duck and noodles with squid. We were very happy with our meals. The staff was also nice and attentive. Highly recommend.

Chef Hien Restaurant is definitely geared towards tourists, but to be fair, most of Tam Coc has gone that way. The dining room is full of tourists, yet don’t let that put you off. It’s busy because the food is genuinely good. The real highlight is the roast duck cooked over charcoal at the front of the restaurant. We ordered half a duck for two people and could easily have eaten a whole one. The meat was tender and juicy, the skin well rendered and crispy, and the flavour spot on. We paired it with a banana flower salad (ask for it spicy), which worked beautifully. We also tried the fried vegetable noodles, but I’d skip that next time and focus on duck and salads. Service is fast and efficient, even if a little impersonal. In an area lacking much truly local or authentic food, this is a clear standout. We paid around 400k for two people including drinks and left very satisfied.

Roasted duck was good. One serving was about half of a duck 195000vnd. Tasted best with the dipping sauces. The stir fried green and the barely fried tofu were really good. House draft beer was only 10k vnd a glass. Surcharge 3% if pay by credit card.

AMAZING roast duck, albeit smaller than expected portion but still impeccable pricing. Shatteringly crispy skin and fresh meat. Some parts of the meat were slightly tough though, but the ones with bones were extra juicy. Ordered an extra plate after as we cleared it in seconds. However, the rest of the food wasnt really that good. The goat was extremely dry and tough, the beef stir fry was greasy and dry as well. The morning glory stir fry was very salty. But the duck was good. More a 3.5/5 but a 4 will do for now, definitely expected better

Despite the good ratings, my experience was disappointing. The duck was raw, tough, and difficult to eat, possibly because it was not cooked long enough during the rush. The upstairs service was also poor, as there was no one available to attend or assist us properly.
