It’s kind of like a Disney World boat ride, but in the real world - What I mean by that is there are large crowds and there are a long line of boats paddling in front and behind you, all following the same route, but the scenery is stunning and it’s fun experience as long as you know what it is going into it. Each boat is rowed by a local and it’s definitely hard work so if you go, make sure you are kind and tip them at the end!

Trang An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and taking a boat ride is by far the best way to experience it! It's about a 2.5 to 3 hour ride and costs 300 dong for adults. It's 4 people per boat so we shared ours which we didn't mind! Motorbike parking is also free. Just ride through the entrance, collect a parking ticket, and park up. We really appreciated that it was free and felt happy knowing our bike was safe. We chose Route 3, which takes you through three caves and past several temples. The caves were absolutely breathtaking, especially the 1km long cave which is the longest in Trang An. It was incredible gliding through the limestone cave, and at times we had to duck to avoid hitting our heads! We also passed the filming location for Kong: Skull Island. The scenery throughout the trip was stunning, with crystal clear rivers, towering limestone mountains, and beautiful temples tucked into the landscape. We stopped a few times to explore the temples and take photos, which was nice, and also gave us a chance to stretch our legs as sitting in the boat for a few hours can get a little uncomfortable. On such a hot day, we also appreciated that umbrellas were provided for shade. One thing that really stood out was the strength of the rowers, who were mainly women. We were amazed at how they rowed for hours in the heat, so we happily tipped our rower as we thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon with her! There are also a few souvenir shops, coffee shops, and other little stores around in the main complex, which was really handy after spending a few hours out in the heat! Overall, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend the Trang An boat tour to anyone visiting Ninh Binh! 🌿🚣♀️🏞️

Visited here in the January, 2026. I was the first person to buy the ticket that morning. I have taken the route no.2. I have waited for 5 mins till the another two persons joined the boat. The boat tour started somewhere around 7:30. Ours is the first boat and the entire route is literally for us till we returned at around 9:10. Amazing views. After reaching the ending point I have seen the flocks of tourists. the tour starts getting crowded after 9 AM.

The Trang An Grottoes tour was a great part of our day and definitely worth visiting. The scenery is really beautiful and quite majestic, and the whole experience feels very relaxing. At times it honestly feels like you’re drifting through Jurassic Park with the towering limestone cliffs and lush nature all around you. A good tip is to go between 12–2pm if you can. We did this and it helped break up the crowds a bit as many people were at lunch. At the beginning it did feel slightly like a tourist trap with lots of boats setting off, but once the routes split and the boats head in different directions, everything spreads out. We chose Route 1 and suddenly it felt like we were alone in the middle of nature, which was really special. On the way back to the starting point though, we passed what felt like hordes of boats coming the other way, which made us glad we timed it the way we did.

Trang An complex is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site and riding a boat is the best way to explore the place. The tickets would cost you around 250k per person for a 2.5 to 3 hour boat ride. If a person wants he can get tickets for a private boat as well. We got tickets for 2, so we had to share our boat with a family from China. We chose Route 3 option and passed 3 caves and few temples on our way. All the caves were breathtaking and the idea of passing through limestone caves on a boat was truly adventurous. The route 3 also happens to have the longest cave of 1km length, in Trang An and this cave had some amazing landscapes. We literally had to bend down properly to avoid our heads getting hit over here. Other than the caves, the scenery around with the river water flowing, the huge limestone mountains standing at the banks, and little temples situated at the foothills created a magical atmosphere. We also saw the place where Kong: Skull island movie was shot. Basically, there were a few huts in the backdrop of the forest which were used as sets for the movie. We also got few stops to explore the temples where we got time to click nice photos. Overall we had a nice time. If in Nihn Bin, I would strongly recommend this boating experience in Trang An.

Trang An is so lovely. The scenery is absolutely stunning. Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and nature, I really felt so small in the middle of such beautiful landscapes. I took Route 1 and Route 3, which were both quite nice. I went with some older ladies, and we spent around 2 hours finishing both routes while chatting along the way. The boat rower was very friendly, cheerful, and gentle. The views were breathtaking, with some mountain ranges looking just like the ones in King Kong movies 😭 It was both romantic and majestic. Sitting on the boat, taking photos, and talking with the rower made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Honestly, rowing a boat is much harder than it looks. I tried rowing for about 15 minutes and was already exhausted, with sore arms and back. If you visit, please consider tipping the rowers. I tipped her 200,000 VND because I could really feel how tiring the work is. Overall, it was such a wonderful and memorable experience

Very busy- boats and life jackets everywhere but overall it was worth it to see the UNESCO heritage site. We took route 3 to see the 1000m cave which was awesome! The tour took us the full 3 hours. Make sure you bring lots of water and sunscreen as it gets very hot.

Really try to avoid the crowds as it can quickly become a hassle if you go after 9am on weekends. I’ve done the tour number 2 and the views are really nice and give you a really good immersion in the limestones hills/caves. Really satisfied with the lady who was rowing, nice and smiling, no English though so don’t expect much of explanations 😅 Your experience will really depend on whether it’s crowded or not.
