Trang An Ecotourism Complex is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Vietnam and a must-visit destination in Ninh Binh. The combination of limestone karsts, serene waterways, lush greenery, and fascinating caves creates a breathtaking landscape that fully deserves its UNESCO World Heritage status. The boat ride is the main attraction and takes visitors through stunning scenery and several natural caves. Gliding through the narrow cave passages and emerging into picturesque valleys surrounded by towering limestone mountains was an unforgettable experience. The caves are particularly fascinating and showcase the unique geological beauty of the region. The local boat rowers deserve special appreciation for their hard work, especially considering the long duration of the journey. The route is peaceful and offers countless opportunities for photography and enjoying nature. That said, we personally felt that the boat ride could be shorter. The full journey lasts around 1 hour and 45 minutes, and during hot weather it can become quite tiring, especially when there is limited shade. A route of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour would, in our opinion, provide a more comfortable experience while still allowing visitors to enjoy the highlights. If visiting during warmer months, I would strongly recommend carrying water, wearing a hat, and applying sunscreen. Morning visits may also be more comfortable due to cooler temperatures. Overall, Trang An is a spectacular destination with incredible scenery and unique cave experiences. Despite the long duration of the boat ride, the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it one of the highlights of any trip to Ninh Binh.

I visited Trang An and it was easily one of the most memorable experiences from my trip to Ninh Bình. The combination of rivers, limestone mountains, caves, and temples created a peaceful atmosphere that felt very different from the busy cities in Vietnam. The highlight for me was definitely the boat ride through the landscape. Sitting on a small boat and slowly moving between huge mountains made the whole experience feel calm and immersive. Some parts of the route were completely quiet except for the sound of the water and the oars, which made the scenery feel even more beautiful. What stood out most was how untouched and natural the area still felt. Passing through caves, open rivers, and green mountain areas kept the trip interesting the entire time. Every section looked different, so the ride never felt repetitive. The caves were especially memorable because of the cooler air and the dramatic feeling when entering darker spaces before returning to the open scenery again. I also liked how relaxing the pace of the experience was. Unlike crowded tourist attractions where everything feels rushed, Trang An encourages you to slow down and simply enjoy the surroundings. The reflections of the mountains on the water made many parts feel almost unreal, especially under good weather. The boat operators handled everything smoothly, and the overall organization felt easy for visitors. Even though the area is popular, it still managed to feel peaceful and enjoyable. Overall, I think Trang An is a must visit destination in Ninh Bình if you enjoy nature, photography, and slower travel experiences. It is scenic, calming, and one of the most beautiful natural places I have visited in Vietnam.

We went late in the afternoon and luckily had no queue, but you can immediately tell the place is built to handle huge crowds very professionally. The organization from start to finish was excellent. Honestly, this became one of the best tourist experiences I’ve ever had. Coming out of the caves into the quiet valleys with the sounds of nature all around was just incredible. The scenery is stunning, the boat ride is relaxing, and the whole experience feels very well managed. The short stops at temples and pagodas were also nicely organized, with clean bathrooms and resting areas. We chose Route 1 and loved it so much that we even considered doing another route the next day. If I ever return to Ninh Binh, I would absolutely do Trang An again.

Oh my god, this place is so amazing and I love it so much 😍! You will have to wait and buy tickets to go on this wonderful boat trip. Sure, the waittime is time-consuming and the line may be a bit long but the experience is worth it. I recommend you go with friends or family so you don’t have to match and get seated with strangers on the same boat, or you can just buy 4 tickets to get the whole boat. The boatman is really nice and friendly. The trip takes around 2 hours and it is indeed a long journey. The boatman will row the boat to different locations. You will go on this surprisingly lengthy river as the boatman paddle. You might go through islands, mountains, caves (Warning: Caves might be a bit narrow and the ceiling is a bit low so if you’re too tall, or have claustrophobia, be careful) and temples. The boatman will stop for you to take pictures at temples and locations. They are really nice too, they would tell you stories and introductions about different things all around this attraction. You can also paddle with a mini paddle. I love this place because people are friendly and the scenery is absolutely captivating… Please go here if you have a chance to go to Vietnam

Beautiful riverboat tour with three routes. While route 1 has the most caves, route 3 is the most beautiful. The guides are very kind. If you are two, you will be placed with strangers. The boats carry 4 and it's a bit crammed when everyone is squeezed in together. Hope you are with cool people if this happens. The boat stops three times to let tourists explore pagodas. Every stop has washrooms and small food stands. A must see attraction when staying in Tan Coc. It's a 30 minute drive from the town.

Trang An was one of the highlights of our trip. The scenery was breathtaking, with crystal-green water, towering limestone mountains, and beautiful caves that made the boat ride truly magical. One of the most memorable moments was passing through the caves while cool water droplets fell gently from the ceilings, adding to the adventure. The local people made the experience even more special. Our boat was guided by an elderly gentleman, and we were truly impressed by the effort, endurance, and dedication he showed throughout the journey. Seeing how hard the rowers work gave us a deep appreciation for what they do. If you visit, please consider giving them a tip—it is a small gesture that means a lot and is well deserved. A peaceful and unforgettable experience that we highly recommend.

One of my highlights in Ninh Binh — definitely a must-do for everyone visiting the area. I chose Route 3 in April. It wasn’t too crowded, even though it’s one of the more popular routes. I also heard that Route 1 is a bit less touristy, but honestly, as you can see from the pictures, my experience was totally fine. In general, the atmosphere and scenery are absolutely beautiful — very peaceful and unique. I recommend applying sunscreen and mosquito spray before departure, as you’ll be on the boat for quite a while.

Surrounded by towering limestone mountains, peaceful rivers, and hidden caves, the entire journey was nothing short of magical. The boat ride through Trang An is an experience in itself. As the small rowing boats gently move through caves and winding waterways, every turn offers postcard-worthy views. The calmness of the place, combined with the stunning natural beauty, makes it one of the most serene destinations in Vietnam.
