Your place to start when you want to go to Phu Quoc and other islands in the bay of Thailand. Very clean, very fast service. Also many restaurants around, so you won't have to take your ferry without something substantial under your belt. Also nice to watch incoming and outgoing ships of all sizes.

Honestly the only real attraction of Rach Gia for foreigners. Riding a ferry from here to Phu Quoc is really nice. You see a couple of other islands on the way. I would recommend booking the tickets online. I booked them via Bookaway. Beware, that there are only small vendors near the harbour and no real stores or restaurants.

Can go to Phu Quoc island or Nam Du islands. In case foreigners visit to Nam Du, need permission to enter islands. But just look and ask to tourism companies near (street) their, they can solve permission problems. Extra pay less than 100,000VND (aprx.5USD) per person.

We arrived at Rach Gia Harbour by private transfer from Saigon on our way to Phu Quoc. The waiting area is quite basic, but you can buy snacks, drinks, and various small items while waiting. The restroom, however, was really unpleasant. Be prepared. 🙂 About 30 minutes before departure, you need to line up at the pier. The boarding process feels chaotic, with long queues, pushing, and locals moving in and out with scooters, which can be a bit overwhelming at first. That said, everything somehow works in the end, everyone boards, finds their seat, and the ferry departs as planned. That’s Asia. Overall, it’s just a standard ferry terminal, and once the journey was over, it all felt perfectly fine. We actually returned from Phu Quoc to Saigon by plane, which turned out to be worse. Next time, we’d happily choose the boat again. 🙂

Took the Futa Bus from Saigon to here (with another transport from the Rach Gia bus station to the harbor) in order to take the boat to Nam Du. Ticket price is 210,000 VND.

Mediocre service at best! Inside the ticket office, were about six people, but they were extraordinarily slow and difficult to communicate with.

When travelling to Phu Quoc make sure you know which gate your boat leaves from - 1,2 or 3. You can buy from ticket office just before and there are several other places around town. It will be chaotic and you will be standing so go prepared. My ferry was 30 mins late leaving. You will need to show your passport to the security guard before boarding so have it to hand as there isn't space to go rummaging through your bag.

it's just ok. The water closet was one of the smelliest I've been into.
