  My family stayed at Lang Hao Huc for the May holiday weekend and we had a wonderful time. This place is a very special corner of Vietnam, offering a unique experience away from the busy capital - close enough to be easily reached but feeling a world away. The young couple that own the property have been following their mission of capturing and preserving as many aspects of the culture and heritage of what it means to be Vietnamese, and finding a way to let visitors engage with this and learn from it. From a very small start, Thanh, Trang, their team and their children have created a beautiful picture of rural life. As a visitor you can choose from staying in large traditional stilt houses, bamboo cottages with mud walls, and several more modern designs. The accommodation is spread across a huge, hilly piece of land which extends from the small road to the mountains at the back. In between there are ponds, river beds (with a waterfall in the rainy season), orchards and gardens. On our stay we experienced so many fragrances from flowers and trees, countless butterfly and insect species, and the bustle of farm animals from ducklings to puppies to freely ranging chickens. There are many places to sit and relax, a lovely swimming pool for moonlit dips, and a charming staff that will look after you. Everything we ate at mealtimes came from the farm, and together with the owners and their children we made some wonderful Vietnamese specialities, e.g. pounding rice into mochi, harvesting various leaves for wraps. The children were tasked with retrieving leaves and vegetables from the grounds, then learning how to make dishes for lunch and dinner. We packed supplies and climbed halfway up the mountain where the kids were taught how to build and start a fire with a steel; we all then cooked locally caught fish and laid our lunch out on huge banana leaves. Throughout the 3-day stay, we and our children were taught about traditional games, dishes and practices. Time stopped, devices disappeared and we all slipped into harmony with nature. The owners and staff here are super friendly and helpful. They will feed you wonderfully. As the pictures show, the village is rustic with some facilities natural and simple. But almost everything you’ll need is there - it just requires a shift in context. Thank you Trang, Thanh, Mr Long, LHH staff and wonderful kids.

  This was my first stop in viet nam and I’m so grateful for the kindness and hospitality the village showed me. I enjoyed two days of the countryside and delicious meals (they insisted on over feeding me). I would love to return one day. Highly recommend this stay for anyone who wants to slow down and venture off the beaten path. ||Thank you for a beautiful introduction to Viet Nam!

  Not only is Vung Tau a wonderful place to visit, but I also truly enjoyed my time at Lang Hao Huc. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. It's a perfect place to unwind and escape the busy city life. Also, the food was absolutely delicious, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and supportive in every wayy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and refreshing retreat!

  The homestay was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The host was extremely friendly and always ready to help with local tips. The location was quiet but still convenient for getting around. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back in the future.

  It was a warm feeling like you're revisiting moments from your childhood only to realize that the kid has always been in you. We swapped stories with some of the guests, staff and the owner weaving together laughter and memories, all while creating new ones.

  My daughters and I had a magical stay at Lang Hao Huc! Definitely exceeded our expectations…|Our host Thanh, his family, and the staff members were so kind, helpful and friendly, and we left feeling like we made true friends and real community in Vietnam.|We were so fortunate that we happened to be staying during the Vietnamese New Years celebration, and were able to participate in traditional activities like decorating, making Chung cakes, making fires to cook them, plus traditional new years games with music and other fun. A magical cultural experience for me and my daughters.|Thanh speaks great English and has a great cross-cultural vibe while offering a very authentic experience of rural Vietnam. |And the food is fantastic! We brought groceries, but definitely didn’t need to. The extensive menu - made from locally sourced ingredients - is gourmet, and also incredibly affordable. Highly recommended for all three meals.|We will definitely be back again soon!

  I love Vietnam, and after my visit to Hanoi last year, I wanted to experience the countryside. I chose Lang Hao Huc, about 1.5 hours north of Hanoi. And for 5 days it was a perfect holiday, just what I was after. ||It gave me the experience of the traditional Vietnamese countryside living. The units were bungalows surrounded by fruit trees and vegetable patches, at the bottom of a forest, a walking distance from a lake. The rooms themselves are big and open. The toilet and shower are in a little hut outside the room – a private toilet and shower for each bungalow. ||When you sit on the veranda, you will be visited no doubt by a flock of chicken, by wild birds and wild butterflies, and also by the local dogs. They love playing, but they will leave you alone if you do not want and will not enter the rooms. ||As for amenities: you get a mosquito net for the beds, the shower has always hot water, electricity, and Wifi has been good most of the time. ||While breakfast is included in the price, I chose to have 3 meals a day. The food is fresh, grown or caught locally. I especially enjoyed the fish from the local lake and the snail soup. Although I had been familiar with Vietnamese food, many of the dishes were new to me. ||The staff at the place were so helpful and were happy to learn what I like and what I do not – especially when food was involved. The only thing I was unable to convince them was how little food I need. Every meal included 4 or 5 dishes, all were wonderful. While they did not speak English there was no problem communicating with them using a translator app. ||Not so is the case with the owner, Thuan. Having studied in the USA, his English is great. He lives in Hanoi and spends the weekends there. When he is away, he is still available and very helpful on WhatsApp. When he was there, it was fascinating to speak with him -- over rice wine -- about the situation in Vietnam and the region, the mentality of the local people and the government. He is passionate and active about developing tourism there, while maintaining the traditional culture and the environment. ||All around the area they grow tea, and I spent my time there mostly walking around, meeting the local people – all friendly, generous, and helpful – and watching and photographing the environment, birds and butterflies. One of the days I asked to be taken down to the city, 20km away, for shopping and visiting the ethnical museum (no real shopping in the local area). Thuan arranged a car and a driver for me. It all went smoothly. A driver was also the way I got from and to the airport. ||The entire experience was amazing. When I wanted to sit, read and rest, I did just that. When I wanted to be in nature, I did that too. And when I wanted to meet people, the local people were always happy to have a chat. ||Looking for an authentic experience in the countryside, for me it was the perfect holiday.
