Rigged taxi meter or 'broken' meter

Red flags:
  • unmarked taxi at airport
  • meter ticking unusually fast
  • driver refuses to use meter
  • no company logo visible
Avoid by:
  • use Grab / Be / Xanh SM apps
  • if street taxi, use Vinasun or Mai Linh only
  • agree price before getting in for non-metered
If it happens:
  • pay and exit calmly
  • screenshot driver ID + plate
  • report through app or to tourist police
