  If you're seeking a bit of adventure with a touch of organization, you're in the right place, even if you're accustomed to something a bit different as a Westerner. I felt I was in good hands despite the noise of the boat's engine and the length of the Mekong, which can become monotonous as it always looks the same after a while. However, there are a few highlights along the way, and let's be honest, if you're seeking adventure rather than luxury, you'll be just fine."

  Tuesday 14th October 2025; Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Chau Doc, Vietnam: Pleasant and easy service, the crew were polite and friendly and sorted passport control at both points. Facilities are onboard. Seating inside or outside They bring a bag with snacks partway through the journey which was a pleasant surprise. Drinks are available to purchase onboard for a minimal fee of $1 A different experience, a long journey but it passes fairly quickly when you are looking around at everything.

  I absolutely loved this boat trip from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh! Yes, there were some unexpected things… like arriving at the boat dock at 6:50 to find 40 to 50 people already loading!! 😳😳 Turned out, 100 people were headed to PP, and they were utilizing four boats! Because there were so many people, it took 2 1/2 hours to get through the Vietnam exit station (one hour) and the Cambodian entry station (90 minutes.) We didn’t arrive PP till about 2:15, BUT there is just nothing like this trip up the Mekong. Views you’ll never get from a car or plane, personally, I’m so glad I did this. And I was so impressed with the staff of Hang Chau. They acted as “fixers,” moving 100 people through efficiently. (The slow down is in the process, which is high tech, but lengthy.) The staff on my boat spoke English very well, and took good care of us. After that 2 1/2 hours in passport control, they also provided a snack bag. I’m thankful this company survived Covid when many failed. This is a unique experience, the extra time wasn’t too bad and all the passengers were good about it. I began messaging them several months ago, all communication was clear and timely. Thanks for a wonderful and efficient trip Hang Chau. Hope your business continues to prosper.

  Speedboat Chau Doc to Phnom Penh in July 2023. Only two speedboat providers remain after Covid. Victoria (private boat, expensive) and Hang Chau Tourist (shared boat, affordable). Both companies leave from the pier at Victoria Hotel in Chau Doc. Just walk through the respeption and turn to the left. We travelled with Hang Chau and had to stay one extra night in Chau Doc to wait for enough passengers. We bought tickets at our hotel. We also received quick and excellent information directly from Hang Chau via WhatsApp. Our boat was fully booked with approximately 30 passengers. Indoor seating in bus seats 2+2. No air con, but no big deal as all doors and windows were left open. Clean western toilet with window and toilet paper. Outdoor benches in the back, but most passengers stayed inside. Outside is lovely and spacious, but you need earplugs to survive the engine noise. Crew was captain and one assistant. Both friendly and helpful. They collected passports, Vietnam eVisas and 35 USD for Cambodian visa from all passengers straight after departure. And helped all passengers through both border stations with great efficiency. All passengers received a small snack bag just after entering Cambodia: two tiny bananas, one tiny cake and some salty biscuits. Free cups of water was available in the back. Cold beer and soda is sold by the captain for 20 000 Dong / 4 000 riel / 1 USD. Best photo opportunities are on Vietnamese side of the border with ferries and houses on both riversides. On Cambodian side the river is wider, the landscape rural and it is just much less action. In Phnom Pehn we arrived at the International Floating Port (Sisowath Quay #103). Titanic Restaurant just above the pier is a great place to escape tuktuk drivers if you need time to plan your next move. We booked a taxi via Grab which arrived within a minute. Time schedule: 7:00 register, deliver luggage and find seats 7:30 departure 8:00 reached main river 8:30-9:10 Vietnamese border station. Staff handles all paperwork. Just relax in the cafe offering snacks, drinks and even some clothes. Two western toilet, no paper. Return to boat. 9:15- 9:50 Cambodian border station. Staff handles payment and initial paperwork. Waiting benches in shadow. No food or drink. Toilet Asian style. Each passenger is called by name and go and get their fingerprints and picture taken before the passport is stamped. Return to boat after a final passport check by the pier. 13:00 arriving Phnom Penh Pictures: 1-3) Vietnamese border station 4) Cambodian border station 5-8) on board 9) Phnom Penh pier

  We booked the boat/ferry online and found it pretty easy. They messaged us by WhatApp quickly for passport info which made the process easy. The staff are awesome and so helpful. They spoke English well and it couldn't have been easier. The boat ride was comfortable, you wont feel sick, plenty of fresh air, the bathroom is clean and easy, the snacks are good and drinks were available to purchase for $1. We took enough bottled water for the journey. The border crossing was sooo easy, they walked us through the whole process for both borders quickly, helped by a staff member who looks after all of the paperwork. Would definitely use their service again. Thankyou Duc and crew 🙏 Also, pro tip, the boat terminal in Phnom Penh is co-located with the Titanic restaurant. We purchased a delicious takeaway fried rice from them for the boat. Highly recommend! Just get there a little bit earlier. ❤️❤️

  Took the Hang Chau Tourist Speedboat between Phnom Penh and Chau Doc. A great hassle free way to travel between Cambodia and Vietnam. Booking process on their website was simple and straightforward. The confirmation email stated the date and time of travel, exact location of their jetty next to the Titanic Restaurant and also gave the amount of USD required for payment of the fare on the day of travel. We were lucky to be just 21 passengers on a boat for 60. The staff were friendly and helpful, assisting at both the Cambodian and Vietnamese immigration stations. (Unfortunately we had a 30 minute delay at the Cambodian check point as two Chinese travellers were removed from the boat for incorrect paperwork). A pleasant surprise was being supplied with a free snack pack of sweet and savoury biscuits and water for the journey. Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are also available to purchase at reasonable prices. If travelling Cambodia to Vietnam departing at 1230, sit on the left of the boat as this is the shady east facing side. All in all a fantastic was to transit between these two countries and to see the landscape from a different perspective.

  A great way to cross the border. The staff were very helpful at the border immigration points. You carry your own luggage to and from the boat. The trip was easy 5 hours in total and easy. Reasonably priced. The river is a little boring and industrial so a slow boat (none found) would have been a pain. The speedboat was perfect and not very full. One a day. Leaving from Sisowath quay at 12.30pm.

  Money-grubbing company. They charged us 1/2 the ticket price, because the bag was "too big". Altough the ticket of 12Go states you can bring as much luggage as you want. It is not a good feeling, standing in front of the boat and they will only let you enter if you pay an extra fee. The company owner didn't care at all that we had not enough US-Dollar left for the visa fee after paying him for the "extra luggage". The boat tour itself is not spectacular at all. I also don't know why they collect 37 US-Dollar for the visa, while it is written in the internet that it costs 30-35. The only positive part was the friendly staff on the boat. I would advice not to take the speed boat for 44 US-Dollar + paying randomly an extra fee.
