We came here at the end of the day for a beer. It’s a small piece of paradise just one floor above the craziness. After reading the menu but only had room to try the eggplant (AMAZING) we had to come back and did the same night!!! The staff we great to accommodate our minor changes. We had only wanted a plate of steamed vegetables-so the vegetable pho became a beautiful plate of bok choy! The roasted duck with pepper corns (changes French fries to rice to enjoy the sauce -yum) and the pork cheeks with radish (not pig stomach) were spectacular. The only minor complaint-no negronis on the menu. And did I say how amazing the staff are!!! Annie and the team were great

Great place with a really nice view. The local food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. This isn’t my first time here and I’ll definitely come back again. Prices are also very good. Highly recommend!

The food*: Absolutely worth coming back for. The bun cha was the standout — perfectly seasoned, fresh, and cooked just right. Portions were generous without feeling heavy, and even the sides had more flavor than most mains I’ve had elsewhere. If you go, don’t skip the roast duck . It’s the kind of meal where you actually pause between bites because it’s that good. *The staff*: This is what made the night. Our server was attentive without hovering, knew the menu inside out, and gave honest recommendations when we couldn’t decide. They checked in at the right moments, refilled water before we noticed it was low, and handled a small mix-up with our order smoothly — no attitude, just fixed it fast. You could tell they actually enjoy working there. *Vibe*: Casual, clean, and not too loud. Great for both a date night and catching up with friends. *Verdict*: Best combo of food and service I’ve had in a while. Prices match the quality. 10/10, would bring people here to impress them.

Thanks for reading! If this helped you, let me know with a like. In Hanoi, amid its restless streets and timeless pulse, The Balcony Beer stands as a refuge — a narrow vantage to the world’s jumble and song. The cold beer there, poured with practiced hands, cuts through the heat like a sharp memory, the glass sweating in the heavy air. Mojitos come next, green and fierce, a flash of sweet sharpness that mingles with the lingering smoke and laughter. Here, as a writer who chases meaning but is often caught in the drift, you sit with your notebook, trying to trap something real—some truth in the wild waltz of the city. Hanoi is a city of ghosts and grandeur; every corner tells a story loud enough to drown the faintest whisper of your own. The struggle is clear: to capture the breath of this place before it slips like smoke, to wrestle the very magic from the streets to the page. The Balcony Beer offers a perch above it all, but not above the fight. The voices below, the crack of footsteps, the roar of motorbikes—they echo in your mind even as you try to catch a sentence. The ice clinks in your glass, and you remind yourself that each day is a battle between the chaos outside and the quiet within. A cold beer helps. A mojito dazzles. To write here is to live in the moment’s tension and drink deep of the city's fury and its fragile beauty. It’s a fight worth having, and The Balcony Beer keeps time with the pulse of that very struggle.

Annie was amazing and provided us with honest advice about their fabulous food. Annie is attentive, polite and we loved her. I highly recommend this Bar. 3 people

Perfect location for a couple of cool beverages after a hard day of sightseeing and negotiating with local vendors. The funniest part was watching the crowd on the street level scatter when the police drive by...grabbing and hiding chairs from out front of their business...but as soon as the police are gone, back come the chairs. Great spot for people watching and drinking beer!

Nice view but the food quality is just acceptable. You may try if you value the beautiful scenery for chitchatting with friends🫠but probably I won’t go again… quite expensive compared to other Hanoi bar/restaurant

Just tried the beer tasting set. Not bad. Hesitated to order the food cuz is expensive, touristy prices, but I guess that is what you pay for the balcony lol Oh btw for the beer tasting set, I think it is better to have instructions to say which beer is which one ?
