  I'm a German tourist and arrived in the emergency room around midnight with a high persistent fever. I was immediately taken care of, my doctor spoke English very well so communication went smoothly. She explained every single thing to me and was very patient with my questions and took my concerns seriously. After 2 hours I received my lab results which were explained to me in great detail and I received prescription medication which I could pick up at the hospital's pharmacy at 2 am!

  There is a statue of Saint Paul the Apostle inside the hospital. That's why it was named Saint Paul, or in Vietnamese "Xanh-Pôn"

  Although the hospital is overcrowded and a mess oftentimes, they did a great job fixing my broken leg. I staid there for 4 days. Pros - professional doctors/surgeons. Vip room was very nice, had a tv, extra bed for your family, fridge, wardrobe. Some doctors as well as some nurses speak English. Post surgery care was very good. Affordable price. Cons- you definitely need a Vietnamese friend/family member to be there with you and help you with everything - translation, food, moving you around with the bed/wheelchair. When you go there at night, be prepared to wait for a long time.

  FOREIGNERS DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL NO MATTER HOW SICK YOU ARE!!!!!!! If your ambulance takes you here then get a grab ANYWHERE else. If you are sitting in triage reading this: LEAVE. Even if you are waiting for treatment already. GET. OUT. NOW. I sprained my ankle on train street and thought it was broken. No one will actively tell you what is going on - you have to find someone who will look at you and then translate what you need. I was given some kind of painkiller which they did not tell me about and did not take my previous medical history or ask what medications I was already on. I was taken to the xray room there was BLOOD SMEARED ON THE TABLE!!!! The xray booth stank of cigarette smoke. The technicians did not clear my partner from the room when they started taking xrays and I had to tell him to leave the room. Their attitude was horrific and unhelpful. Not ONCE did they attempt to explain what was going on or what they needed from me, and when the xrays were done they shoved us back into the hallway and pointed in a general direction. We had no idea what we were supposed to be doing or where we were going. We waited for the xrays to come back. The 'Dr' did not show them to me, but said I hadn't broken anything. They then prescribed paracetamol and an NSAID, which I had already tried to explain I could not take. I insisted on stronger pain relief and was prescribed a codeine paracetamol effervescent tablet. They DO NOT: Bandage sprains Sell bandaging Offer crutches or wheelchairs Sell crutches or wheelchairs They told us there was a street on the other side of Hanoi that sells that and to get out. My partner tried to help me limp out of the door I COULD NOT WALK. A doctor came out acting concerned but did not offer anything to help me move. I was sobbing trying to hop down the ramp to get into a Grab so I could escape this place. The nicest part of the experience was a lady waiting outside who saw how much pain I was in and how I was crying my eyes out and offered me her tissues. Thank you for the most traumatic experience I have ever had on holiday and the worst medical care I have ever received. I wish I could have never have come to this place.

  This hospital is a mess. A lot of confusion and lack of supplies. No toilet paper in the bathrooms. No basic hygiene. People walking around dripping blood. It’s a very scary place

  After spending four hours at this hospital seeing a bunch of unnecessary doctors, I have no medication, no treatment but you can bet they make you pay the minute you walk in the door, now I must come back on Monday because the doctor has gone home, I didn't realise people don't get sick over the weekends.
