I had a very nice time at Green Homestay. The hostel is simple but comfortable with a small balcony to chill on. The kitchen has the necessary equipment and the atmosphere made me feel at home.

Great place. I stayed in the second house, not the original Green homestay. It's a house in a backyard with a huge terrace upstairs, including the kitchen. It's very quiet, which is lovely, especially in noisy Hanoi. You can find everything you need in the alley close by and it's only a short walk to local streetfood stalls or beer places in the evening. Very local! Not a touristy neighborhood, which is nice and much more authentic then the old quarter. I could store my bicycle outside.

The owners are always willing to help. I've stayed here for two months, yes there are small issues, but it was sorted out quickly. You can get a private room for the same price as a dormitory bed at this place. Excellent location as well

Very different experience to most of the Homestays we have stayed in for the last 8 weeks. More budget guesthouse style. However we had somewhere to store 3 bicycles and had a good nights sleep in a high up room with a view.

The location was great only a short trip to the old quarter. Staff were friendly and helpful. Could be a little cleaner but still fine. Very happy with mystay

I stayed here for 10 days and paid around $81 total, which is definitely a good deal if you're on a tight budget. However, the room was very small (around 4 meters wide) with only a small bed and a very thin topper instead of a proper mattress. After staying for 10 days, my back started to hurt from sleeping on it.My room was also on the 5th floor, and the narrow stairs made going up and down a bit inconvenient, especially after a long day. There is a place to shower and use the bathroom, so basic needs are covered, but overall the conditions felt quite basic and somewhat uncomfortable. In my opinion, this place is okay if you only need a cheap stay for 1–2 nights and don’t mind sacrificing comfort — I’d rate it around 6/10. But for a longer stay, I would recommend spending a little more money on a better place if you want a more enjoyable and comfortable travel experience.

Check-in was difficult as no one was there to help us for a long while, even after the posted 2pm check-in time. When we finally got in touch with the owner, he kept brashly asking how much we paid and gave us a completely different room (downgraded) apparently based on how much we paid online (since I had a membership discount so the total was lower). Digging deeper into Google reviews, seems like this is a common pattern of people being persistently given rooms that are poorer than the ones they booked. Owner was rude and would definitely not recommend unless you want to fight for the room you actually booked.

A very specific experience — good for one night onlyRating: 3.5/10I stayed here recently, and I’d describe this place as "highly specific." It might work for a quick layover, but I wouldn't recommend it for a long stay. Here is the breakdown:The Layout & AtmosphereThe space is incredibly cramped and "busy." The layout is quite unusual—my room was essentially a walk-through area, meaning people living in adjacent rooms were constantly passing through my space. There is zero privacy and a constant flow of traffic. It feels very congested and overcrowded.Facilities & Workability• The Plus Side: There is a kitchen upstairs, which is convenient. Also, the bed linens and towels were surprisingly clean and decent—no complaints there. Power outlets were available and worked fine.• The Downside: There is absolutely no workspace. If you need to get any work done on a laptop, this is definitely not the place for you.• The Surroundings: The building is surrounded by busy roads on all sides, making it feel very enclosed and noisy. The "Vibe" and Sleep QualityI didn't sleep well at all. There was a smoking area right next to the kitchen/living space, and the smell was everywhere. To make matters worse, a neighbor was constantly smoking and acting very strangely—he completely ignored everyone else and behaved as if he were living there alone, which was quite uncomfortable.Summary• Pros: Clean sheets, functional sockets, kitchen on-site.• Cons: Extremely cramped, "walk-through" rooms, smoke smells, no desk/work area, noisy location.Final Verdict: This is a place to "crash" for one night if you're in a pinch. For anything longer, look elsewhere.
