Lovely hostel! Rooms and bathrooms super clean. Roof top was great got to see a great view of the city. Staff very helpful with booking transfers and tours. We booked the Ha Giang Loop through them and it was amazing and helped us extend it! Would especially like to thank Cassie for all her help!!! 🫶🫶🫶

Stayed in a private room and it was comfortable and clean, central location, 24/7 reception. The rooftop bar is very social too. I had an issue with the aircon leaking and it was fixed within 30 minutes which I was really impressed by! My only complaint is that the water pressure in the shower wasn’t great.

Great hostel in the centre of Hanoi, the rooms are comfy and the rooftop bar is a cool feature. I really enjoyed my stay here, met lots of friendly people and the staff were always very helpful and friendly. They also have a pool table downstairs which was a great way to meet people. There is also free breakfast served as part of your stay which was great. Would definitely return👍

We stayed in a private room, which was comfortable and clean, and I really appreciated that. The breakfast was also great, varied, hearty, and with plenty of choices. The only downside was that our room was on the eighth floor, and one night there was music from the bar upstairs. It didn’t happen every night, but it was definitely loud for us. Overall, it’s clearly a party hostel, so if you’re looking for a quiet stay, the dorms might not be the best choice. That said, we really enjoyed our stay in the private room, especially considering the excellent value for the price.

DO NOT STAY HERE I’ve stayed in many hostels across Vietnam, and Lake View Backpackers Hanoi was easily the worst experience I’ve had. The biggest issue was the way payments were handled. During check-in, there were three separate groups arriving, and every single group was charged the wrong amount. In each case, guests were overcharged by approximately 10,000–15,000 VND. Staff claimed it was a mistake, but after watching the same “mistake” happen repeatedly to multiple guests in a row, it did not inspire confidence. The confusion appeared to stem from a 10% Hostelworld payment surcharge, which the hostel applies on top of your booking. This was the first hostel I’ve encountered in Vietnam charging an additional fee simply because the booking was made through Hostelworld. On top of that, guests paying by card are charged an additional 8% card surcharge. Between the Hostelworld surcharge and the card fee, the final amount can end up being significantly higher than expected. The reception staff appeared poorly trained and disorganized. A few days before arrival, I contacted the hostel to change my booking dates. Despite multiple messages and three separate phone calls, nobody processed the request. When I arrived, the staff had no knowledge of the change and still expected me to pay because their own team had failed to update the booking. Customer service was equally disappointing. Reception staff were frequently occupied with their phones and watching TikTok videos rather than assisting guests. We received no introduction to the property, no explanation of facilities, and no basic orientation. Check-in felt more like being handed a key card and dismissed than being welcomed as a guest. The hostel also requires a 200,000 VND deposit for an unbranded plastic key card, which seems excessive given what is being provided. To make matters worse, this was the first hostel I’ve stayed at in Vietnam that charged 50,000 VND simply to rent a towel, with no towel included in the accommodation. The experience was poor enough that our group chose to leave a day early. What concerns me most is that after we checked out and expressed our dissatisfaction with the stay, our Hostelworld booking was cancelled, which prevented us from leaving a review through the platform. Whether intentional or not, the result was that we lost the ability to provide feedback where future guests would actually see it. There are plenty of excellent hostels in Hanoi that provide better service, clearer communication, and better value for money. I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
