I had a wonderful stay at this hostel in Hanoi. Everything was excellent—from the cleanliness of the rooms to the comfortable atmosphere. It is a great place for travelers. I would like to sincerely thank all the staff esp Marie for their warm hospitality, kindness, and professionalism. Everyone was always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help with a smile, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Thank you all for making my visit to Hanoi such a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the city, and I will definitely stay here again in the future👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had an amazing stay at Mad Monkey Hostel Hanoi, and a huge part of that was thanks to Cameron and Bailey. From the moment I arrived, they went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, included, and excited to be there. Cameron has an incredible ability to bring people together. Whether it was organizing events, recommending places to visit around Hanoi, or simply taking the time to chat with guests, he always created a fun and friendly atmosphere. He made it easy for solo travelers to meet new people and feel like part of the Mad Monkey family. His energy is infectious, and you can tell he genuinely enjoys making sure everyone has a great experience. Bailey was equally fantastic. She was always approachable, kind, and willing to help with anything. From answering questions about local attractions to offering travel advice and recommendations, she consistently went the extra mile. She has a positive attitude that makes everyone around her feel comfortable and welcomed. Even during busy times, she remained professional, patient, and friendly. What really stood out was how much effort both Cameron and Bailey put into creating an unforgettable experience for guests. They didn’t just do their jobs—they made the hostel feel like a community. Every event was well organized, every interaction felt genuine, and their enthusiasm made the entire hostel a more enjoyable place to stay. The atmosphere at Mad Monkey Hanoi was one of the best I’ve experienced while traveling, and Cameron and Bailey were a huge reason why. They helped create an environment where people from all over the world could connect, share stories, and make lasting memories. It’s rare to come across staff who care so much about the guest experience, but these two truly set the standard. If you’re staying at Mad Monkey Hanoi, you’re in good hands. Cameron and Bailey are absolute legends, and they turned what would have been a great hostel stay into an unforgettable one. I met amazing people, had incredible nights out, got great local recommendations, and left with memories I’ll be talking about for years. Looking forward to coming back someday! 🍻🌏✈️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food is very good here! Good western food in Vietnam. Also the party/hostel reps made it a good time for all the guests. I’d highly recommend. It’s right by beer street. Quang and Lan Anh were very helpful behind the bar and made the food experience that much more enjoyable!

Mad Monkey is definitely worth visiting if you’re a young traveller in Hanoi. I came here yesterday and I was welcomed into a fun bubbly environment where I ordered the chicken salad bowl which was delicious and healthy! Today I’m back again! This time I’m here for breakfast. They have such great staff here and the facilities are awesome highly recommend coming here for a fun night bar to go to and a good place to get a bite to eat!

Really good stay at Mad Monkey. I originally booked two nights but "Lil Jerry" at reception sorted me out with another two at 10% off, and I only had to change rooms once. Super friendly and helpful the whole time. Would definitely stay again.

The hostel is super conveniently located, really clean, and everyone is friendly. The drag show and karaoke before the pub crawl was really fun! The food in the restaurant is good! They have lots of veggie options. The only downside is that it has a really bad/weird smell on the 4th floor.

Terrible experience with the rude and bigoted staff. I was checking back in after the Ha Giang Loop when a worker named Jerry looked at me and rudely said "I have to be honest, this is a place for young people. This is not a hostel for you," even tho I had stayed there several times before with people my age and fit in just fine. I had made zero complaints, and yet Jerry treated me like I was unwelcome, didn't belong, and didn't understand what kind of hostel I was staying at. Incredibly rude and uncalled for! Last year I had also stayed at Mad Monkey Hanoi and met an old man in his 60's from Europe who said he always stayed at Mad Monkeys all over SE Asia, a man much, much older than me. Jerry's prejudiced assumptions ruined the experience. Mad Monkey must train their workers to not be so bigoted and to make assumptions about people they have never talked to. Jerry was demeaning, degrading, and completely out of pocket. His assumptions were uncalled for and his customer service was the worst I have ever experienced in any hostel, anywhere in the world. I will no longer be recommending Mad Monkey to others. Check into the hostel next door (the Hanoi Traveller House) instead, and opt for the much better (and cheaper) Ha Giang Loop Tour through the Ha Giang Safari Hostel. These businesses, staff, and experiences were much much better (and more affordable).
