Overall nice stay! Close to the Royal City and has an amazingly welcoming and honest staff. The only downside is that the hotel is starting to show its age but it is well maintained nevertheless. The room was comfortable and so was the bed and the pillows. Everything was clean and smelled good. There was some noise from the window in the morning but not at night. I had both an AC and a fan in the room but didn't need either, as the room temperature was comfortable. I wasn't "guilted" into writing a review as someone else mentioned in another review. In fact, the hotel staff didn't talk about reviews at all during my 2 nights stay there.

The guy in the front desk was very accommodating, and intelligent because he can speak English that's why we didn't have to translate. Good Job!

Very disappointing stay. The room was dirty and poorly maintained, completely different from the photos shown online. The hotel also does not accept card payment, which was extremely inconvenient for travelers. On top of that, they charged an extra 8% tax without clearly informing us beforehand. The whole experience felt very unprofessional and not worth the price. Definitely would not recommend.

⚠️ WARNING, WARNING!! ⚠️ For context, we're Americans who travel extensively internationally for both business & leisure. To name just a few countries - Thailand, India, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Macau, Czech Republic, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea... Our first night in Vietnam was a HUGE disappointment. We checked in late & ended up leaving our initial / this hotel early due to a "malfunctioning" hot tub (the VERY old, small hot water heater couldn't fill the tub - it shouldn't be advertised if it's unusable!). This was the main reason I booked the room (903). Also, the room was VERY grimey and poorly maintained, despite the SUSPICIOUSLY high ratings. 😒 The daytime receptionist, who I believe may have been the owner (he spoke English fairly well unlike the other employees), gave us an insulting 100k VND "discount" for the "malfunctioning" tub, so we ended up paying 900k VND + 33,505 VND card fee = 933,505 VND for a WAYYY overpriced room!! We looked at the smaller shower-only room for 3 adults (502), but it was also VERY grimey and poorly maintained, so we definitely did NOT transfer. He said it would be the same 900k VND rate, which was insulting & laughable after looking at it!! We left shortly after noon to try another hotel (A25 Hotel - 88 Nguyễn Khuyến) - the BEST DECISION EVER!! We paid 822,171 VND total by credit card/visa, which included a delicious all-you-can-eat breakfast for 3 of us and TONS of other amenities - please go read my review of that hotel. It was such a pleasant stay that we stayed an extra night in Hanoi (same price). We will definitely stay at A25 Hotel - 88 Nguyễn Khuyến again whenever we return to Hanoi!! === 3/16/25: In response to the owners reply, I wanted to provide additional context regarding our recent stay and the challenges we faced - I believe it's important for clarity and improvement. Following our late check-in, I notified the hotel via WhatsApp around 1 AM regarding the non-functional bathtub. Aware of the late hour, we went to sleep. Your response came around 6 AM while we were still asleep. Upon waking at 10 AM, I followed the instructions provided to ensure the hot water switch was on and the tub’s plug was in place. They were, and I even sent screenshots for confirmation. The message was marked as read, but there was no follow-up within the next hour. So around 11 AM, my sister went down to the receptionist, she was informed that "maintenance" would now be sent to our room. After inspection, maintenance confirmed the bathtub issue and then handed us his speakerphone with the English-speaking staff member on the line. While I was the primary speaker, all three of us were present and actively listening to the conversation. The three options presented were as follows: 1. A 100k VND discount for the current room (so discounted to 900k VND per night). 2. Cancel the remaining nights. 3. Transfer to a shower-only room at the "same" price (clearly stated and confirmed when I sought clarification). We asked to see the shower-only room, and we found it to be smaller and still poorly maintained, making it an unsuitable alternative - we declined this option. Additionally, I want to highlight broader cleanliness and maintenance concerns, as evident in the 5-minute video I uploaded: ▪︎ BLACK MOLD was visible on the spray bidet and around the bathtub. 🤮 Immediate deep cleaning is essential. ▪︎ The bathroom exhibited significant neglect, including a rotting plant, a discolored pull-down blind, and accumulated grime/dust. ▪︎ Both the entry room door and bathroom door also showed grime/dust accumulation. ▪︎ The closet was only half usable, as one door had been nailed shut. ▪︎ Water stains across the bedroom ceiling require bleaching and repainting. ▪︎ The blue-painted walls are bubbling and need to be repaired & repainted. This is a stark contrast to the five other hotels/homestays we’ve stayed in so far during our Vietnam trip (all less than 900k VND per night & with bathtubs) - all much cleaner & far better maintained.

I have nearly no negative things to say about this hotel. The check-in staff are nice and the elevator does not shake. There are many restaurants nearby and shops are not far away at all. The problem is that the emergency exit (a ladder on the outside of the hotel) is rusted and probably can't hold 4 people. The water IS NOT FREE SO DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY DRINK IT, and nor is the food. The aircon and fan work just fine. The place requires you to turn on the water heater manually to get hot water, unless you are lucky and the previous cardholders left the hot water on. There is a spa in fact, in your room (703). Extra toothpaste, toothbrushes and towels are free. The curtain for the bathroom can be seen through, a huge negative.

As a full time traveling family, we made a commitment to our social media followers and soon to be launched blog, to always be honest with our experiences. This was the first time I felt pressured to take down a review. But after the relentless efforts for me to take down my remaining booking review. I’ve decided to repost my honest review on this property... here it is:||You get what you pay for..||The staff are exceptionally helpful and service oriented. And if I were to rate the staff alone, I would have given this review an easy 5 stars.||But the truth is, the location is about a 30 min drive to Old Quarter with not much near the hotel apart from a few poor quality local restaurants and Mega Mall being a 10 min walk away. The sound of the street passes into the rooms far too easily with poor soundproofing. The bathroom window leaks light across the room through the night bc of the open concept and odd architectural choice of a window on the wall separating the bathroom from the room.||Some of the rooms have a piece of foam passing as a mattress, thankfully bc of the incredible service standards, the front desk moved us and actually upgraded us to a larger room with a proper mattress. ||The hotel is quite run down, rooms are quite aged and in serious need of renovation and furniture upgrades. The accent sofa in the room was falling apart, everything looks very old and beat up.||Overall, notably excellent service, though poor location, poor comfort, and very old rooms and furniture. You really get what you pay for. A bit scary staying here to be honest, would definitely not come back here or recommend to anyone unless on an incredibly low budget.

The hotel is a bit out of the centre but worth it as it is great value for money.||The room I had was very spacious and it had a great power shower. ||The manager Mr Hai was the most helpful manager I've ever come across, nothing was to much trouble. I asked for help sorting my onward itinerary out and he sat down with me calendar in hand and together we sorted my dates and places out. I asked him for help booking tours and booked everything including taxis to/from the pick up point, even coming in after his shift one night to ensure I got back safely and ready for the next tour the following morning. ||Great stay.

I recently spent two nights at the Amore Hotel Hanoi and I have to say that Mr Hai and his staff made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived, and they made sure I had comfortable, tranquil surroundings in which to carry out my work as well as to relax. My room was pristinely clean, as were all the public areas. The fridge was well-stocked with water and other refreshments. There was plenty of soap and shampoo, and the shower itself was powerful, warm and refreshing. I have stayed in many three-star hotels, mainly in Europe, and I have to say that the Amore Hanoi is, in every regard, at least as comfortable as any of those establishments and in some respects better. What I like best about Amore is Mr Hai's commitment to customer service, so that whenever I just needed to be left in peace, nobody bothered me, whereas if I ever needed something, Mr Hai seemed to know about it before I had to tell him what it was - whether it be a cool glass of water while I was working in the lounge on my laptop, or a cab to take me to a meeting, or whatever else. Within easy reach of Hanoi's main business districts, situated on a quiet street adjacent to the pretty To Lich river within only a few minutes' walk from eateries serving both Vietnamese and western cuisine, I can recommend the Amore to any weary traveler in need of a friendly, reasonably-priced refuge.
