  My wife and I visited the Vietnam Immigration Department to apply for a 5-year visa during our stay in Hanoi. The experience was excellent and very straightforward. You simply fill out the application form, pay the required fee, and come back later to pick up your documents. The process was professional and efficient, making it a stress-free part of our long journey through Vietnam. Highly recommended for travelers who need to handle their visa stays in a reliable way.

  Guys, this is the most amazing immigration department in the world. True professionals work here — fast, efficient, and without corruption. They resolved my issue quickly and clearly. I believe immigration services in Thailand, the USA, and other countries could learn a lot from how this department operates. Huge thanks to the Main Immigration Department of Vietnam. They treat people with respect, do not punish harshly, and truly respect personal freedom. Huge thanks anh Hiếu!

  I recently applied for the Vietnam e-visa as a Brazilian citizen. While I encountered a significant technical hurdle, The main issue was that the official payment gateway would not load from an internet connection within Brazil, showing a persistent connection error. After many attempts, I had to ask a contact abroad to access the payment link for me, which worked immediately from their international connection. However, after the payment was successfully completed, the service was excellent. My application was processed within the advertised 3 working days. I hope this feedback is useful. For other Brazilian applicants facing the same payment page error, trying an international connection (like a VPN) might be the solution. Once past this initial step, the Immigration Department itself is very reliable and fast.

  I did Temp Residency Card (TRC) for my foreign husband here before, but now you will need to do it at 44 Pham Ngoc Thach (Hanoi Police office) instead (if your residency is in Hanoi). And will need to register on dichvucong first if you (the sponsor) are Vietnamese

  My e-Visa application has been stuck in processing while the system keeps showing an incorrect message that I must leave Vietnam before applying, even though I applied outside the country. I even uploaded my passport page with the exit stamp as proof, but nothing changed. I have sent many messages and never received a real response, only automated emails. There seems to be no working support and no one actually reviewing cases. I have never experienced such ignorance from an official institution. An e-Visa system full of errors and no real communication with applicants is unacceptable.

  Be careful with the information you read online because it might not be corect or they refuse to follow it. In my case, I had a one month tourist visa which I requested online just because the 3 months one was failing the payment. So I came here to extend it - not possible as they say that the e-visa is not extendable. Didn't know that. If you want to overstay and pay the fine when you get to the airport - not sure if this is possible as there were people here who missed their flight because they didn't let to pay this at the airport and they had to come to this office to pay it. And this job isn't completed on the spot - you must leave your passport and come again after some days to collect it. From my experience, if you are a tourist, best thing to do is to get an e-visa and if you want to extend it just leave the country and return with a new visa. Or hire a company to do the process for you

  I've got today my passport and visa after 2 weeks of ordeal. The immigration office in Hanoi lack system and is understaffed, total chaos!! It took me one week to get a ticket in order to submit my documents and application. The main problem why I didn't get a ticket is because people have been hired to take a stand in the queue from 3am and were selling their place to agents arriving before 8am. Immigration staff didn't help or tell me what documents are required and I had to go back there twice to submit additional documents which had to be notarized after my application has already been submitted and fee for visa paid. For instance if the immigration office opens at 8.00am and you went there at 6.00am there is still no guarantee you'll get a ticket. People queuing there are mainly Vietnamese working as agents submitting documents on behalf of foreigners who paid a hefty fee. People there are not kind, they pushed me away and majority of them did queue jumping, stepped on my feet without ever apologising nor noticing (please don't wear flip flops when going there). It was a very stressful and frustrating time and I hope never to return to this place again.

  Their e-visa is total sham in case you do not have strong passport. They gave me repetitively reason, "passport image quality is not high" . Do not waste time and money on applying directly. Their embassies also do not provide any help. Their contacts number and emails are also like black holes, they never reply. Their main foreigners@.... also does not exist, I get back my email.
