This is the best restaurant we have eaten at in this city. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination. I had a delicious Gluten Free Orange chicken, and my girlfriend had the vegan Pho. It was INCREDIBLE. They kindly gave us fresh fruit at the end of our meal! Tucked away in a cute, quiet street you will find delicious homemade meals by a lovely team of passionate people! You must go here! We will be back tonight :)

AMAZING, a must visit!! I’m coeliac and they have a separate gluten free menu. They are super knowledgable of allergens and cross contamination. The food is incredible and the owners are lovely!! I’d recommend this to everyone, but especially if you’re coeliac or gluten free!! We ate here twice and they were our favourite meals of the whole trip. Thank you, Tuyet <3

Mate Restaurant and Coffee in Hoi An is an absolute gem. The food is consistently excellent—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, striking a great balance between local authenticity and broad appeal. What really stands out, though, is the service. The staff are warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, creating an experience that feels personal rather than transactional. You’re made to feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. The atmosphere ties it all together beautifully. It’s relaxed and unhurried, the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and soak in the surroundings without feeling rushed. Whether you’re stopping in for a coffee or a full meal, it’s an easy place to linger. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hoi An.

We had a great experience eating here for lunch. The food was really great! We ordered Sweet&Sour Pork, Braised Tofu, Vegetarian Fried Spring Roll and the Cao Lau. And everything was tasty! Maybe the meat was a little tough, but the taste makes up for it. The winner though is the Vegetarian Fried Spring Roll - very very delicious. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious! Very fast service and friendly people. Prices are a bit higher but still good. Pretty place. We had pork spring rolls morning glory, beef cashew and crispy chicken in orange sauce(this is so good, a must try if you like ginger as its quite strong)

We stayed in Hoi An three days and went to this place for two lunches because it was so good. The owner/chef is so skilled, the food is incredible, the quality of the food you get here is unmatched. The layers of flavours and the balance of all the components is amazing. If we stayed longer we would have definitely gone again. The owner and the staff are also very friendly, warm and welcoming. We had the Mackerel hotpot, passionfruit fried chicken, char grilled squid and the lemongrass chicken. They all had so much flavour and you could taste the thought and attention to detail behind every dish. One of the best things about Hoi An, must visit, definitely hands down worth the small detour from the main area, the restaurant is very beautiful and tastefully done as well.

Mate Hoi An is without question the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have celiac disease, and this is one of the very few places where I felt completely safe. Its a separate glutenfree menu with a lot of options (63?). They have a deep understanding of gluten-free cooking, including separate fryers, excellent hygiene, and strong routines to avoid cross-contamination. My partner and I loved it so much that we ate here several days in a row for both lunch and dinner. Our favorites were the Bánh Xèo, crispy orange chicken, pork sweet and sour, egg coffee, and the amazing crêpes and pancakes. The family who runs the restaurant is incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even more special. Note: the restaurant is moving to the city center! This place truly deserves a Michelin star!!Easily the best food my partner and I have ever eaten.

Really fresh, clean, high quality food!! 3rd day back in a row! Excellent for vegan/vegetarians and gluten free options also. Lovely green outlook from upstairs balcony. Recommend the Banh Xeo vegetarian, lime soda, ginger tea and fried bean spring rolls (vegan). Enjoy the great service and consistently tasty flavourful dishes. Great variety of local veggie and meat dishes + Chinese also. Trying the veggie Cao Lau tonight!
