  The Lantern Night Market is absolutely mesmerising. The view at night is stunning, with lanterns lighting up the entire place and creating a magical atmosphere. The boat ride is a must-do—peaceful, beautiful, and perfectly timed for the evening glow. The food options are fantastic, with something for everyone, and everything we tried was delicious. Overall, it’s an amazing experience and the perfect place to spend your evening soaking in great views, good food, and vibrant energy. Highly recommended! ✨

  It was a memorable experience. We were told it was better after dark and it certainly was very beautiful. We were also told about the people being pushy to get you to buy candles or go on the boats. They were very persistent. Thankfully the markets were gentler in their sales pitch. I found a huge variety of things to buy and I'm very pleased with my purchases. The atmosphere was friendly inviting. Check expected prices for taxis on Google and barter with the drivers. Barter with the market holders as well, respectfully.

  Indeed, a lovely place to be in the evening. Hoi An has truly magical vibes — especially when the lanterns light up the entire village after sunset. The glowing yellow lights reflecting on the river, the colourful lanterns hanging across the streets, and the calm atmosphere make it feel far more authentic and peaceful… unlike Goa.

  Vietnam's 'old city' or 'old town' experience also includes Hanoi's Old Quarter, a 'thousand year old' bustling district of 36 trade streets, and a 15th to the19th C trading port. Both offer traditional crafts, and a 'happy - go - lucky' street life while depicting French colonial touch. It is located between Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River, and the old city wall. Known as the '36 streets', it originated in the 11th C, with streets historically depicting 'specific sales'. The area features narrow and deep 'tube houses', French and Soviet style architecture, and lively street cafes. A UNESCO World Heritage site known for its yellow-painted, lantern-lit streets, tailored clothing, and evening boat rides. It is situated along the river, with amazing atmospheric blends. We fortunately landed up here during 2023, and we're glad to get ourselves clicked under the sign showing - 'Hoi An Welcomes the New Year 2024'). This particular event featured art performances and countdown parties along the riverbanks. Hoi An is famous for its colored lanterns and river boat rides, which are visible in the background. The location where many tourists take these photos is often near the Hoi An Bridge (Bridge of Lights), which connects the Ancient Town to the An Hoi island. People love sitting near the River, which flows through the heart of the Hoi An's ancient town.

  Hoi An Night Market offers much more than the usual knick-knacks and street food. Whilst there are plenty of colourful stalls and local snacks to explore, what truly makes this market unique and magical is the opportunity to take a 10-15 min boat ride along the Hoai River where you can release small, candlelit paper lanterns onto the water. We drifted through the darkness, guided by glowing lanterns reflected on the water, creates an unforgettable and almost dreamlike experience. The colours, the calm movement of the boats, and the gentle energy of the surroundings feel deeply soulful and unmistakably Hoi An. The atmosphere is vibrant yet romantic and unlike anywhere else. Visited in December and it was busy, but that only added to the lively charm. A must-do experience when in Hoi An. ✨🏮

  ​If you think Hoi An is quiet, wait until you cross the bridge to the Nguyen Hoang Night Market. This place is a vibrant explosion of color and energy that is absolutely unmissable when the sun goes down. However, "peaceful" is the last word I’d use to describe it—the crowds are overwhelmingly intense, and you’ll find yourself shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of other tourists.🇻🇳 ​The highlight, without a doubt, is the stunning display of silk lanterns. Hundreds of them glow in every shade imaginable, creating a magical backdrop that makes the chaotic queuing for photos feel somewhat worth it. It’s a photographer’s dream, provided you have the patience to navigate the sea of people. ​When it comes to the food, it’s a mixed bag. You’ll see endless stalls selling everything from banh mi to grilled pork skewers and the famous "banana pancakes." To be fair, the street food is nothing extraordinary—it’s mostly generic snacks meant for quick consumption. You eat here for the buzzing atmosphere rather than a gourmet experience. ​What makes it bearable is the location. Situated right by the Hoai River, the cool breeze and the sight of floating paper lanterns help soothe the exhaustion of walking through the packed aisles. It’s loud, it’s crowded, and it’s a bit commercial, but the sheer energy of the market is something you have to feel at least once. Just keep your bags close and your camera ready!🖤🧡❤

  Hoi An Night Market is a nice spot for an evening walk and soaking in the atmosphere. It’s lively, colorful, and great for strolling around after sunset. You’ll find plenty of options to eat local food, grab tea or coffee, and sit down at some really good restaurants nearby. That said, not everything there is worth the money. The leather shops inside the market are noticeably expensive. If you’re planning to buy leather products, it’s much better to shop outside the night market where prices are more reasonable and quality is just as good, if not better. The boat ride is something I personally wouldn’t recommend. It’s overpriced for what you get, and the experience feels rushed. The aunties selling candles can be very pushy, which takes away from the charm. Honestly, it’s better to click a few photos, enjoy the view, and move on. There are also many lantern shops, but be aware that some charge 10,000 VND per person just for photos or videos, which feels excessive. Almost everything in this area is heavily monetised, often without adding much value to the experience. Overall, Hoi An Night Market is worth visiting once for the walk, food, and vibes, but go in with realistic expectations and spend your money wisely.
